usually the cut tips are to prevent more burning on the tips of the leaves, atleast thats what i hear

Thanks everyone for the replies!
The clones seem very healthy to me. The photo was taken right after they got home from a 2 hour long car-ride, and about a 30 minute smoke out sesh in my truck :D :D.

I believe they cut the tips of the leaves to hydrate them better, although I am uncertain.

They have been rooted for the past like three days I believe, so pretty damn fresh.

i've seen people recommend that you cut them while you are taking the clones (the tips)... personally i leave them alone unless they are turning yellow or (deffinitely) brown... then i cut back to where the yellow meets the green.

supposably the plants forming roots have a hard time hydrating all of the leaf matter. but i just cloned very nicely in some 16 oz. styrofoam cups with Miracle Grow Seed Starting mix and Dip 'N Gro... using clear cups upside down for individual humidity domes. I cut HUGE clones with 2 or 3 branch sets ... i only trimmed the leaves that were going to be bent up against the domes.

they rooted normally and then had very quick growth due to all of the leaves still being on them. (No heating mats, just room temp of 70-78.)

I have just never seen it so I thought it was interesting. I would think as someone said earlier that unless the leaves are showing signs of yellowing or burning tips they should be left alone.
Thanks for the reply to my question ;-)

This will be interesting coz I too just got some clones and we use 600 watt lights aswell so it will be good to watch each others progress. I will post a grow diary and many pics so it will be good to see you both do the same.

bterz and sonomacoma what will you be growing in (soil, rockwool, coco etc?

I prefer bigger clones aswell so I wasnt impressed with the ones I got.

How tall are the clones you cut?

hmm.... that's one area where i agree with the 'more isn't better cloning theory'...

i leave on as many leaves as i can, but i make sure that cuttings are no more than 5" tall, usually around 4". i use the rooting compound along the whole stem and bury the clone all the way up to its first set of branches.

I believe they are 3 gallon. The guy at the hydro store didnt even know. They charged an arm and a leg for them (3$ a piece) but they're VERY very sturdy. I'm glad I bought them.

They are like 8" square but like 12" deep.

Do you think I will get proper root growth with that big of a pot?

yea you definetly will get enough root growth in those guys, they're perfect for the amount of space and plants you are growing. you will get plenty of height too, assuming the plants have room to grow up

They have about 10 feet of height to play with... :D

Tomorrow morning im going to mud/texture the room. After the mud/texture all dries im going to hang the door and put some weather stripping to seal it. I can then hang the lights, fan, and filter.

Taking soo long geez :(

room is takin longer then I wanted

so here

and the 420 room ;0

The middle row of clones seemed a little lighter green then the others. (I moved them under the light because of there lightness, so its not from the light being too close, plus it doesnt get hot) and even the tips seem a tiny burnt..

Any ideas? they'll be under the HPS tomorrow
