this is my 1st time growing and im using the book buds for less. i have one female plant and wanted to know if there is a good time or bad time to clone. the book shows how to do it at 24 days. but the plant is past 24 days. should i still try to get a clone? any info would help

You can take clones at anytime during a plants life,but it is better practice to do it during green growth.

you can allways take clones so long as the plant is in the veg stage if it is flowering then its to late

Its best to take during veg or first week or 2 of flowering. Can be done later in flowering, but will take a lot longer to root, and have a higher failure rate.
Take your cuttings from the lower section of the plant. They seem to root faster.
