Cloning Care and Nutrients

I have about 10 clones that I started this past Monday. I cut them off of the plant, put them in a plate of water and barely skinned the bottom part of the plant, made another cut at 45°, dipped in root/clone powder and planted them. Does this sound right?

I have been very careful about watering. Lights are on 12/12, soil is FFOF. When should I start feeding them nutes? I have some Tiger Bloom and was going to start 1/2 strength this coming week.

Thanks for all of the help!!

Do you have them in tiny pots I guess? They need high humidity until they root, most people use a dome. Dont start feeding them until theyve put out plenty of new growth. I tried cloning in soil before and it didnt work out well, its totally possible though. Rockwool or oasis cubes,or an aerocloner are the most common methods..a lot easier to tell when theyve rooted that way.

I take 3-5 clones per week.. I put them in plastic cups with 1 inch of tap water.. No dome at all and my clones are perky as fuck... i have about 30 white widow clones going right now. I just took these pics of my clones that I just cut about 4 days ago. I have a few ugly clones in the mix because I got rid of one of the mother plants because she wasnt growing to my standards and I didnt want to waste any clones. I used to take clones and put them in rockwool cubes and the humidity dome but its a waste of time IMHO and I never use cloning gel or anything and I get about 90% sucess rate with white widow from dutch passion. You should try the cup method sometime

Ill stick with rockwool..I get about 99.5% success (no bs,I promise :) ), and theyre a lot easier to plant and handle that way. Doesnt really seem time consuming..but ultimately there are many different ways to do it so any way that works is fine.

For me: Budget cloning...
Red Cups [drill holes in bottom], add, clear inverted plastic cups as the domes
Soil/Perilite 60/40%
Use small misting bottle [with H2O2/ water/ superthrive] to wet first 2" of mix, then fill cup rest of way with soil re-mist to damp
Have pre hole in red cup soil
take cutting/clone with two sets of nodes
Cut [many different ways] at below bottom nodes
after clone soaking in water while [waiting for me to prepare soil in cup]
Root powder and put into your hole in soil
at each step, keep your hands clean
No soil to touch under side of leaves [or from your fingers to clone]
mist soil mix again after tamping lightly soil from outside into your clone
I never wet leaves, top or under...
Put dome on
Put under CFL or equal
Mist again clone in two hours
Dome should 'fog' up
Sometimes my clones droop, and I cut leaf as needed [wet or soil]
This way I'll claim 90% prob higher...
My mom stays in veg 18/6 and clones grow roots near her
This way usually takes 5-14 days to grow roots, sometimes longer
Of course there are faster ways to do it....
This way works for me with how many clones I want...
Mom was seedling Oct-1
Started clone's of her for sex 11/25 [clone + 8 days in veg] then to Bud Room...
Clone of mom is now a small frosty bud plant getting ripe...
I try to only grow 2-3' plants...
Have fun with it...
Growing MJ keeps me sane...
I have taken about 30-32 clones from her since...

I just got tired of buying rockwool cubes all the time lol :bigjoint:

I have mother plants indoor and I do a 100 plant grow outside almost every year.. I get the clones ready indoors and plant them outside in early may... I also have an aeroponic setup Im building and I just finished my last dwc and I would clone the same way when transplanting to soil or to neoprene pucks in the dwc.

I have a 99% sucess rate when I take healthy clones but I like to take even the ugly clones to make a little extra bud and those wispy clones are the only ones that might not root so thats why I just say 90%... So if you and I have the exact same sucess rate then rockwool is a waste of money IMO.. I can also see roots right away when the clones are in the cups..all I do is look down into the cup lol with rockwool you have to wait until the roots start growing out of the rockwool.. but hey if your system works and meets your standards then dont change anything. Goodluck and your clones look nice bro
