Cloning from plants already outside

Hi guys,

I have some plants outside and took some clones off them a couple of days ago. I've cloned indoor before and had great success but this is something new.

Someone told me its almost impossible to do and they will die.

Someone else says he does this every year over and over and the majority live. The nice thing is the stems are much thicker so if they all root they will be stronger plants much faster.

Has anyone had any experience with this before? Typically I clone under a dome, and after about 10 days they are rooted. I'm wondering if I need to keep these more/less moist? If I need to keep the dome on or take it off earlier? Etc etc.

If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it, thanks..

PS-so far about 90% are standing straight and pointing towards the light (fluoro's). 10% seem to have kind of wilted or bent over, still green but I think once they wilt they are done.

who ever told you its impossible is a complete imbecile^^ and should not be handing out any advice im sorry... But anyway, Ive taken numerous clones from numerous plants and had the same success as I do with my indoor mothers. If you have good success with indoor, your gonna have no problems.

You could clone them where they already are?
Let them root in their own environment before stressing them to move indoors?

*just cloned over dozens of outdoor grape ape, 9/10 root rate --- AND please slap that person who told you that outdoor plants wont clone.. sigh.. jk? ;)

*i dont do domes (never have, no cloning issues)

Thanks alot guys.

C.Indica: Did you mean like let them root outside? I didn't think about that, I figured have them in a controlled enviro. I've heard in the shade will work though correct? Is this what you meant? They will ultimately be right back outdoors anyways (just indoor to root).

Cannawizard: I have a friend who doesn't do domes either, maybe I will try half/half. Thanks

I grow and clone outside with no problems. I have clones which are started outside and in with little difference in the success rate. The domes are another thing though, living in the mountains it can be very windy and domes help to keep the plant from totally drying out. On calm days I leave them uncovered which they seem to enjoy, indoors or outdoors, dooms or no domes I believe it basically comes down to keeping them at decent temp, 70 to 80 and nice humid place and no direct sunshine outside.
Good Luck
