Cloning question

New to cloning and have been struggling cloning in Rockwool. I went ahead and bought an oxycloner and my question is, can I add Clonex and transfer healthy clones from Rockwool into my oxycloner?

They are 3 weeks in Rockwool, second time trying Rockwool and have failed both times. They are green and looking healthy but zero signs of roots after 3 weeks

are you using a humidity dome? how moist is the rockwool?

did you cut at a 45 and scrape a little off the side . dip in rooting hormone and cut the leave tips ? and place directly in the rockwool then keep them under a dome? 3 weeks is way too long without any signs of root. maybe try clipping more and starting over

Make your final cut right under a node so that the node is in the rockwool

The most important things in successful cloning is consistency you gotta be on point with the temperature u plan to keep them in an create the right humidity they can cope with usually for first week 80% an soaking your Rockwall in a PH adjusted clone nutrient solution an foliar feeding them couple times a day to keep them healthy an strong. I've also found adding an exhale co2 bag in my clone tent helps boost things along. Aslo the stem camber is something to consider if your cuts are soft an green with no white camber to support the rooting process then they rot easily especially if ya temps aren't stable anything over 23 degrees isn't ideal

Frustrating. I too have failed many times.

Rockwool. This method works consistently, for me.

Thanks for the responses guys! I did cut at a 45 degree angle put it directly in Clonex used PH’d water on my Rockwool. Was wet but not dripping the first day and I only had to re moisten once in the 3 weeks. I do not have a traditional humidity dome but I use a top of a 2 liter bottle that I spray often

usually if i have no results at all in in 17 days i make more if they pull right out of the rockwool after that long and look hollow i let my cat eat them and clip more

I just milked one for like 4 weeks finally got a root

I just did a run of clones and had 100% rooted within 10 days doing the simple process I alway use.

Fill small pots with 100% coco "I use small 2 inch nursery pots"
Make a hole using a chopstick
Cut clone
Dip in cheap Miracle-Gro rooting powder available at Home Depot or any garden section
Put clone into the hole made in the coco and pack coco around the stem
Place in a warm spot out of direct light "I use the top of my T5 fixture in my veg tent which provides both heat and very low indirect light"
When a very slight tug on the stem yields resistance then roots have started
Plants then go under the T5 until roots start showing through the bottom holes
Once roots show clone is ready to transplant

No magic, fairy dust, or fancy products. But it works.

Thank you everyone for your help! I did not have success in rock wool and I couldn’t take more cuts because I had to trash the plants due to spider mites from a new soil I was trying. I ended up throwing a couple clones that I had in rock wool for 3 weeks in the oxycloner just to see what happens and after 8 days one of them is showing roots! Genetics saved I’m happy with that

do not keep the rockwool constantly wet
do dry wet cycles

never water never from the top, always flooding in a few milimeters of solution
you dont want the cubes to be saturated of solution

this way it will root for sure

Hello! I'm just going to share with you what works great for me. Hopefully it's helpful. I use the rapid rooter or root riot starter plugs, small 12 site clone trays/domes, and technaflora root tech cloning gel. I take cuts at a 45degree angle, use a clean razor to carefully shave the outer skin (not too much!) off the bottom 1/2"-1" of stem (where you cut it) and dip it in the root tech and pop em in the starter plugs. Take off the lower leaves, leaving just the ones at the top. I also cut the tips from larger leaves, so no leaves are over 1-1.5" when they go in the tray. Once you've got them in the tray, covered etc, don't touch them! Avoid twisting them, tugging them, etc to check if roots have started, just leave them alone for 1-2wks. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Also be sure to moisten the plugs before starting, I prefer to use warm water so it's not a freezing cold shock. I managed to find a 10 pack of the little 12 site cloning trays, domes, etc for less than $20 (also the little tray with the sites for plugs is clear so you can check for roots without messing with them at all). Root tech is a little more expensive than clonex, around $35. But it's worth it! Works fantastic. I have been using this method for 5-7yrs and always getting nearly 100% success rate...if I lose any it's usually due to either neglect or handling them too roughly during transplant etc. I'm sure somebody will be eager to point out whatever they disagree with, but personally I have had fantastic results following this fairly easy method. Honestly I'd ditch those 3 week old ones and start over fresh if you're able! Hope this is helpful for you, happy growing!
