Cloning Question

Hey guys, I have a mother plant that is just HUGE! I want to take some cuttings and place them in my aero-cloner (american agritech 25) but I have an issue...

When I take cuttings from branches this size I almost always end up with an embolism, air trapped in the stem. I have tried used cloning gel but the cloner just washes it away. The stems seem naturally hollow though... is that odd? Anything I can do? Or will that not be an issue in an aero cloner?

Thanks guys!

got a strain myself that these stems seem hollow. if you take the cutting and dip immediately into water and then coat with clonex or a powder that should avoid an embolism. then just let her be till you see roots...moisten of course. i think mine is a wonder woman or a snow white, big tall sativa looking and a bitch to clone.

hollow stems is normal.

try cutting the branches off the mother extra long, then recut them at the size you want under water. if there is no air, there is no chance of an air embolism.

This is a common issue. The solution is to simply start with smaller cuttings. Each piece should be as thick as a spaghetti noodle. Small pieces do not have a hollow core. Plus the growth cells are more active. It may take a little longer to grow up to transplant stage, because the cuttings start small, but the success rate will be very high.

Thanks guys! I just took 12 cuttings today... most had thinner stems but I took a few larger ones as well. If I didn't, my mother would be WAY too big for me.
I'm running my cloner with Clonex solution and hygrozyme, I sterilized it first though. Wish me luck! This is the first time I have used my aero cloner with a full batch of clones and I SUCK at soil cloning.

Again, thanks.

Use sharp razor. Your cut isn't clean enough or you're not cutting it at a 45 degree angle. KEEP SMOKE ALIVE!!

Ok so the pump failed on me yesterday so I had to re-cut the stems, which was fine, the perked up right away. Since I had to cut farther back I soaked them a little in some clone gel again.

Now there is some discoloration on the cambium layer (purple?) and I'm having trouble keeping the res-temp below 80. Ph is 6.5. I got a few freezer-packs to help... see how that goes.

I used an exacto knife and after the initial cut I shaved a bit off the end to make a real surgical cut.

Oh and I rarely post pics, the cops in my area are well funded, technologically proficient and I'm growing too much to risk it..... plus I use Tor Network to keep my IP address hidden, and it doesn't like uploads.

Any ideas? Comments?
Thanks!
