Closet Question

I'm into the fourth week of flowering now. I've noticed that my plant buds aren't really exposed to my 400 w hps, except for the main cola and a few ofshoot buds. Is it possible to tie them down, anchor them, using LST this far into it to expose light to the midsection? This could possibly fatten these buds. They are mostly indica, about 2 feet tall. How have you done it, or how would you do it? Thanks :weed:

having light hit the buds is one of the great weed myths. that's like saying you want the light to hit the fruit on a fruit tree. well, it's the same principle - light is absorbed by the leaves and then food is manufactured and sent to the buds.

I agree, the buds are the sex organs and benefit from photosynthesis from all the plant. However, when a bud forms it shoots out many leaves in the flower. By exposing this area, wouldn't the extra photosythesis around the bud site help develop them more? Less transport around the plant.... I dunno :weed:

misunderstood your question as many people here start cutting leaves to expose bud sites, you're not talking about that though.

so yes, you can gently tie your main cola out of the way of lower branches but i've never done it personally.

for your next grow you're better off topping the plant to make it bushier with multiple colas at the top of the canopy.

You can pinch your main stalk so that the cola bends over sideways. This will help control the height of the plant and give you the opportunity to get more light into the lower areas of the plant. Just pinch the stalk gently between your thumb and forefinger until you feel a snap, then bend it over at this point. It may seem like you are hurting your babies, but it causes no damage or other problems. The stalks will continue transporting water and nutrients, and will heal itself stronger than it was before you pinched it.
