Ok I know a lot of ppl think you can only get quality bud from hps, this is simply not true.I always have nice hard nugs and great yields.Yes it does take some growing experiance to produce nice bud and big yields. These are some auto afgan kush ryders about 3 weeks from harvest.I use smart pots and quantum t-5 bad boy 8 bulb lights. Most grows that are using 400 watt hps would probably do better with t-5 ho as on an 8 bulb your pushing 40,000.lumins with a great color spectrum.2 ounces a plant are on the low end for yield with this set up.Farming 073.jpgFarming 071.jpg

good lookin shit here wowsers!!!!

P1180012.jpg

Mine is just for Veg and is not fully updated with aftermarket bulbs yet. i do have 2 origianls on the out side with the 10k and blue actinc in the middle.

I've never used anything but HPS, so I need to ask. You seem to know a lot about T5/CFL/PL-L, help is greatly appreciated.

I'm switching to 2x55W PL-L tubes that put out 9600 lumens pr. bulb for vegetation and keeping mothers.

Since I'm new to PL-L bulbs, could anyone tell me if my planned setup is enough for a couple motherplants and a few clones for a short time (they will root elsewhere, and plants will go into flowering when they are too high for the PL-L).

Another question: The PL-L has two bulbs, I can choose between 6500K at 9600 lumens or 25000K at 7200 lumens. Which of those bulbs do you reccomend for my purpose?

Just to clarify;
2500k or 25000k?
6500K or 25000K.
I could buy one of each... it seems 25000K has a both blue and red in it.

BTW: I know a little abot spectrums, what I need is confirmation that my choise of lightning is OK for my new setup. I've described my needs, and it's the penetration that I'm worried about.

not expert but in the hope of helping, its based more of the color spectrum rather than lumans is how humans precive light.

softer and blush light is best for green vegging, as red orange spectrum dominate promotes dence flowers

I bought my first Quantum T5 BadBoy - 6 bulb unit... was absolutely digging it... my first time I used it soley and did mixed veg/bloom bulbs during veg then switched the veg bulbs out for all blooms... I had also bought a 2 foot 4 bulb unit just prior to the BadBoy and it will become a seedling/veg starter light for me... which should be more than ample for that job...

Then we got 2 more 4 bulb units for something else the woman wants (her bonsai)...

Next I got 2 more 8 bulb units... Those are for my flowering room which I can only use 1 at the moment due to heat (no ventilation at all)...

Have to say - only thing I would consider a better solution would be LED's but they're just so damn expensive - seems like DIY isn't even the cheapest...

I'll ask again. Any input is greatly apreciated! Please read, easy question.

I asked if 110Watt PL-L fluoros (9600 lumen pr bulb, 2 bulbs) would be enough for a couple of mothers, and a vegging a few small clones (they root elsewhere).

They will flower under vertical 250W HPS, so they don't need to get big. But is the 110W PL-L enough for my needs?

It has to:
* grow and maintain 2 mothers
* grow newly rootet clones, until roots have filled it, then flower.

Now, does the 2x55W 2x9600lm PL-L light sound like it's up for the job?
(never used anything but HID, so I hope for an answer to this stupid question)

Edit: And the light is good enough, how high can I let my clones get before they suffer from too little light at the bottom?

Im not familiar with those bulbs (they're like t5's that are fused at the end right?) but I would think they would compare to 2 4ft t5 tubes @5500 lumens each. I use T5's and they work wonderfully for veg, nice short bushy plants w/ tight internodal distances. your 110w bulbs seem like they would compare to 4x 2ft t5's which would work well for 2 plants veg upto about 9"-12" HxW Those bulbs sound strong enough to grow, it just depends if they are tight/compact units that dont cover a large area, or if they are long enough to cover all the plants you want. Match their numbers up against t5's stats, if they're comparable (they sound like they are) then they'll grow fine. 6500k for vegging. Im pretty sure you meant 2500k earlier not 25000k. the 2500k will appear very orange and is better for flowering, but still has a useable spectrum for vegging. when you're choosing a spectrum for vegging, I would go 3/4 or 2/3 6500k to 2500k bulbs. if you're only getting 1 or 2 bulbs just get 6500k's. both those bulbs have blue/green/orange(very little useable red) just the 6500k will be heavier in blue and the 2500k will be heavier in orange. neither have any useable red, which is why many fail at flowering using fluoros, it is difficult to find bulbs that provide useable red wavelengths (orange is not really that great for photosynthesis)

Assuming they're comparable to t5's, I find good response down to about 18" from my tubes (I try to keep the tubes w/in 3-6" of the tops as they dont create much heat) So they dont start to outgrow my t5's until they're about 18" tall.

hope this helped :)

Wow undercover cop I just saw your ounce a few pages back. I have never seen "brick weed" before. Does it smoke as bad as it looks?
LMAO yes its horrible! you have to chop it up with metal snips before you can even try stuff it into a grinder (seriously it was too hard for my orange handled fiskars scissors, and I had to get metal snips from the garage). Then all the seeds have been crushed (the cartels use presses made from floor jacks to compress it) so you have to fish all the black seed slivers outta the dust you get after grinding. I seriously cut my thumb trying to break a corner off it. And it definately has an essence of gasoline when you smoke it... not good at all.
If you get bud that has been backpacked across in bundles, its not so compressed and doesnt smell/taste like gas, but sometimes it has mold, random long hairs, bits of shredded plastic etc.
not good at all

Im gonna start a "beat my bad weed" thread, and a "beat my resin ball" thread too (I got a resin ball that started in a milk jug lid and has grown to almost 4 inches tall now, about the size of a table salt shaker!)

luckily I finally got some good feminized seeds so I should be good for about a years growing :) Fuck the cartels!

I don't have pics but will try to get some, my brother in law's schwag connect sometimes gets pretty landrace sativas with few seeds, but more often it's hard brick and I swear to god it's often black, before he stuffs it into his pipe. No, I don't smoke his weed with him. :spew:

This is how my first baby turned out (veg) for my T5-HO quantum badboy. Flowering now....
Why don't you put pictures up in THIS thread? Instead of links to pull us away from the Club.
Would be nice:leaf:

That resin thought it sdisgusting.
Why don't you clone? Then you would have endless growing depending on your choices.

And where I can I find pictures of this brtick?
