There are two CO2 bag available CO2 buddy bag ans CO2 Exhale bag, the buddy bags have a bigger opening and are about $50.00. Has anybody used them,? They say they increase yields by 10-20%. What is your take??? Thanks :leaf::lol: they have to be placed above your plants because the co2 is heavier than air and they work best at 80-85 degrees temp

is it really worth it to buy 50-100 dollars on these things for each grow if your room is ventillated well anyway? and wouldnt you want to use them for flowering and not vegging if your spending the money on them?

I was going to go this route in my flower room, but read (numerous times) I would need 5+ bags for a 4x4x7 tent. no thanks.

I use 2 Exhale bags in my grow closet and they work very well. Last 2 grows I used them and the increase in plant growth and yield is no BS. I guess about 15-20% increase in yield just from adding CO2 to my grow. They last about 2-3 grows, mid second grow in with them I will get a new bag and put in in with the 2 older ones, once I start a new grow I will toss the 2 old bags and get a second new one. At the local grow shop they run $30 a piece so IMO the $60 every few months is well worth it. I may also note that my closet have a 600 cfm exhaust fan removing hot air and this does not seem to effet the Exhale bags much at all.

If you vent your closet/room the C02 produced by them bags will get flushed right out and your money along with it. Now I would think if your room/closet venting is controlled you can time it when your vents are closed (or fans are off) so the C02 being released stays where it is supposed too.

The only practical way i see to do this is by using the C02 tank/soleniod setup.

My vent fan comes on when the lights turn on and off when the light are off. Yes the vent fan removes the Co2 but it is consitantly being replaced by the bags and helps keep a higher level of Co2 in the grow space, this is why X amount of bags are need for Y amount of space.

250 for a co2 generator ready to go.
So how do you turn those silly co2 bags off at night?
I bet if you put a co2 ppm monitor in the room you may not be so happy with your bags or the way your room is sealed.

once the bag is made, its alive and working. it has a shelf life of 1yr (iirc) no matter if opened or not.

Didn't know that, thanks - that is useful info. Wonder how long they are on the shelves before some one purchases them? Darn it

there should be a sticker on the bag somewhere. might look something like this 121513 (dec 15, 2013). on the exhale bags, the ones ive seen are white stickers on the bottom at my local grow store.

I was thinking about using one or two of these in my tent. I have to run a exaust fan or my temps get way high. Im runnin 400wattHPS in a 3X3X5 tent. How many of these do you think I should get??

if you use these bags or any co2 with an exhaust fan on, your wasting your money and co2 as its just gonna get sucked out the exhaust fan. and if you only run an exhaust w/o an intake fan or some other opening in your grow structure, your going to have negative pressure issues. when guys are running co2, they do it in a sealed grow room to utilize their co2, otherwise its a waste of money and your plants wont get the desired amount of co2 you think they are getting. iirc, the co2 guys are getting 1200-1500ppm, with a bag, you might get 300-500ppm.

bertaluci, I had some heat issues when I flipped to hps. I run a 600w a/c tube hood w/440cfm fan in a 4x4x7 dr120 tent. I was running 86-90* lights on and 74 lights off. I bought an 18" oscillating fan, made a new mounting support and now have it blowing across the tops of my flowering plants and under the hood. this helped drop the temps by 5*. if you put one of these fans like I have mine, and completely seal your grow room (no exhaust or intake fans going), then co2 would be beneficial.

It depends on your grow room size. they work the best at 80-85 degrees and only in the light; also bags must be placed above the plants because the CO2 is heavier than air

plants need the c02 when the lights are on, you are doing it backasswards.
