coco drip nutrients

Im looking to possibly switch nutrients from fox farm to something else. I grew in coco loco and got great results but im switching to full coco/perlite mix. I know that im gonna have issues with calmag in coco due to latest experience. I would have to add generally about 1tsp per gallon of ro water to keep them happy and im assuming its gonna be the same or worse in pure coco. im wondering if id be better off switching to something like botanicare or AN. Ill be running a scrog with ring drip system feeding 3-4x daily. 5 or 7 gallon pots 24 plants in a scrog. Strain will be DHN platinum girlscout cookies.
Ive seen people using fox farm in coco but not sure if the results compare to other nutrient lines.

Any help would be appreciated. Please dont add what you use in soil. Coco/hydro growers only please. Thanks


My side nutrients are great shark, nitrozime, pro silicate, molasses and botanicare sweetners and various calmag lines.

I run canna coco nutes and I add calmag til it gets to 100 ppm. I use r/o water that starts at 10 ppm's. My additives are the canna the canna line

When I used to grow in coco, i used the house and garden coco line.

First off 5-7 gallon pots are too big for coco unless your growing large trees.
How big is your area and how much lighting? What brand of coco are you using?

4x8 tables. 4x7 is the useable space per table

Two 1k adjust a wings.

Im running 3 gallon pots with coco loco soil mix now but it feels like it wasnt enough for 1 month veg.

My goal is roughly the same size but a little less crowded. Its a mess on there this time around. Scrog is roughly 1.5 ft at highest point. They are on decline drainage tables.

3 gallon (9lt) pots is what I use and veg for 28 days. Works good for me ,but I left scroging and went back to a Mini-tree Sog. Less work and yields the same.

Ya im gonna try sog in 4 months or so. Had to build up enough mothers. For the next round im doing platinum gsc in a scrog again. Just chopped everything down today such a PITA

600 watt hortilux super HPS.

.75 tsp of floranova bloom and .5 tsp of calimagic per gallon of tap, has worked well for me in 100% coco. Watering 3 times a day, from seed to harvest.

There is actually 3 more plants that go in there, Just as a note, those plants never saw over 500 ppm their entire life.

I use floranova + calmag in coco, it works just fine. Some of my spots, zero calmag was needed though. Problem is, the OP has the word 'drip' in the title. I absolutely would not use floranova ever again in a drip fed setup. Clogs everywhere!
I use maxigrow/bloom in those type of setups. I knock it out of the park with the maxi and FN, but maxi over FN for the drip setup.

Botanicare makes some good 1part nutes. I've never tried PBP in drip, can't help you there. Cns17 will def clog drippers/rings. I haven't tried the kind yet, but do believe it's clear, and thus wouldn't clog shit up. But just keep in mind, those botanicare bases are hella weak. 15ml/gal weak.
My advice is to ditch all that other shit you mentioned except the calmag. Get urself some maxigrow and maxibloom.
With RO water, I end up at about 4ml/gal of maxibloom + 3ml/gal of calmag. Nothing else!

Hmm ya im still not sure what route to go. The drip system will be on rings with punctured holes, no drippers. 1/2" line running to 1/4" tubing with the rings at the end. I dont wanna deal with clogged drippers if i dont have to. Ill have 1 pump feeding each side of 12 with holes punctured inside the 1/2" tubing in the res to prevent siphon. Im juat not sure how much to puncture them so that i dont get sihpon and also dont create flow pressure issues.

I'm talking about clogging of those punctured holes also
Floranova, cns17, etc, will clog even basket drip stakes(not really drippers).

Shit haha that sux ill have to purge them frequently then.

Question for u coco guys. I bought botanicare readygrow the perlite coco mix. I wasnt aware u needed to nutrient presoak coco. Im still using the fox farm nutrients until i figure out a new nutrient line. I fed with 3ml/g of Calmag but im thinking the coco just absorbed it all. My plants started yellowing or more of a pale lime green a bit and almost looks like a magnesium deficiency or iron. There are some red stems which lead me to think magnesium. The growth looks just yellowed. I thought it was originally light bleaching but it happened on the clones under my t5 as well. The clones i potted in coco loco look fine so i know its not just the strain. They are still growing pretty normally. So if this is indeed a mag deficiency would i foliar feed epsom salt or just slowly correct by increasing calmag dosage. Im very very new to coco its wierd to get used to lol. Clones are roughly 2 weeks old.

I water my clones with full strength nutrients. Clip them, put them in coco, with a bag over top if your humidity is low, and done. It works every time for me.

Clones are improving with calmag. Note to self to pre-treat coco before transplant.

If im running 12 plants on a pymp with drip rings, what gph pump would i need for a slow supply of water?

Dont use drippers. They will clog eventually. Especially pressure compensating ones. Use the quarter inch "adjustable flow valves" that barb into your quarter inch feed lines from your half or three quarter inch manifold line. The ones in the front will get most of the solution. So adjust the "dial" accordingly so all plant sites get an even flo. Set em in with some stakes or punch them through the "lip" of your grow bag. Lowes outdoor sprinkler department. Packs of 5. Get on it!!!
