coco pot question

Aloha! Hey I read here that someone vegs in 6 in. coco pots and then goes into flower after putting these pots in 2 gal smart pots, ebb and flow. A 50/50 mix of coco and large perlite is the mix in both veg and flw. These are set in 3 in. of hydroton in the ebb tray. Anyway the dude had amazing results with a Purple Kush strain.
My question is: Do you know if the coco pots inhibit root developement going into the 2 gal pots? Never used them before. Don't want the roots to have to break any barriers and don't want to damage roots by slitting a pot??? I'm doing Jack Flash #5 as my first grow. Hear it hermes if disturbed.

Very excited about all this.

Mahalo, Thank you.

i don't think the coco pots do, but i believe the smart pots do. i use coco, and if'n i was you, i wouldn't use so much perlite. more coco holds more nutes. perlite is porous, and will hold onto very little nutes.....
