coco pot question

Aloha! Hey I read here that someone vegs in 6 in. coco pots and then goes into flower after putting these pots in 2 gal smart pots, ebb and flow. A 50/50 mix of coco and large perlite is the mix in both veg and flw. These are set in 3 in. of hydroton in the ebb tray. Anyway the dude had amazing results with a Purple Kush strain.
My question is: Do you know if the coco pots inhibit root developement going into the 2 gal pots? Never used them before. Don't want the roots to have to break any barriers and don't want to damage roots by slitting a pot??? I'm doing Jack Flash #5 as my first grow. Hear it hermes if disturbed.

Very excited about all this.

Mahalo, Thank you.

I use cocopots all the time with great results. It eliminates transplanting stress - you just stick the coco pot in the larger container and the moisture degrades the pot enough for the roots to expand. Love them coco pots!

Thank Yo. I'll give them a try. I like the idea of no transplant shock ..maybe I'll do some in coco pots and some using regular pots and note any growth differences.
BTY do you use coco as a growing medium too? If so, do you first treat the coco with cal/mag? Thanks.
