Cold help purple strains?

Anthocyanin causes weed to purple. By dropping temperatures you decrease the uptake of Phosphorus, which basically halts the production of chlorophyll. No chlorophyll = no green, which causes the Anthocyanin to show through.

Strains that purple easily have been bred to do so. Their chlorophyll productions drops of earlier than other strains. This is also why purple strains have historically had a weaker THC concentration than other strains...since anthocyanin is like a backup photosynthesis vehicle, not having the chlorophyll present for the entire life cycle of the plant results in lower THC.

I'm thinking this low temperature rule for purple strains is a load of crock and the leaves will turn purple when the plant is ready!

Is my assumption correct? Has anyone experimented with purple strains at different temps?

Giving your plants some water with some ice cubes isnt gonna kill your plant. Were not talking about putting the plant in a freezer.. its giving it cold water at night and dropping the temp to help promote purple buds... If you dont think it helps turn them purple then good for you.. Its not gonna hurt your plant or cause hermies if you just try dropping the temp and giving ice water.. what proof does anybody have that it doesnt help?? especially from noobs who never tried it or only try it once...
