I believe he was lied to and used as Secretary of State.
He was given faulty intelligence by the CIA which was headed by George Tenet at the time. Tenet even admitted it later.

Colin Powell was a great man and true patriot. He was a Real Republican not these racist fakes masquerading as Republicans today. Soon all that will be left of the Republican party will be the crazies.

It's a sad day indeed.

He left the Republican party when he saw what it had become and endorsed Obama.

So you think he was a gullible moron and not a lying piece of shit, what's his excuse for My Lai? Is there a term used for the white washing of a black man?

He knew Bush had already decided on military intervention and went ahead and told his lies to the UN anyway. He could have told Bush to get fucked but he didn't. He suspected there was problems with the intelligence, called around and confirmed as much.

The kicker is that he called it a "blot" which is hilariously inadequate to describe the horror he helped unleash.

Rest In Piss Colin Powell.

No. How quickly you forget the details. Powell trusted the CIA, not Bush himself. The CIA were duped by "curveball"

And.....

In his new book, "The Great War of Our Time: The CIA's Fight Against Terrorism From Al Qaeda to ISIS," former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell apologizes to former Secretary of State Colin Powell for flawed CIA intelligence that Powell outlined in a 2003 speech at the United Nations.

"I thought it important to do so because here's a man with an incredible reputation, well-deserved over a long period of time, and he went out there and made this case, and we were wrong," CBS News senior security contributor said Monday on "CBS This Morning."
