The only ones I for sure disagree with in that article are alfalfa and sunflowers-(huge nitrogen hogs) but alfalfa is a great fertilizer when it's dead.
White aslikle clover would work and insects would ignore you're plants for it completely, it's got high sugar content

LoL its all good, you probably just saved me a headache anyway. I have some cilantro seeds I'll just toss in there for the aphids and mites. I plan on experimenting with some Black Kow I use for tomatos and peppers anyways so Nitrogen wont be an issue.
 
Peas in general have a light root system but fix nitrogen the same way. Your current plant won't benefit but if you reuse the soil it will need less amending. The next plant will benefit greatly
Do not use black Eyed Peas they actually use a type of chemical warfare and kill everything around them. And if you plant outside watch out for ryegrass, it does the same

Ive read a lot good though on camomile and mint. Im trying mint right now only because i accidently dried my camomile seedlings to death and i could buy mint at store...

Doesnt seem like tons do it, so not a lot of solid info on it for cannabis i found. But I'm trying it... why not? Its conceptually very interesting...

Yea thats basically what I'm doing just experimenting--I was going to do chamomile but couldn't find any. I grow mint around my bushes and never see any insects lurking around--mosquitos hate it too. Those also grow and spread fast as all hell but I guarantee you'll have Zero bugs
 
Yea i had to oder camomile seed. Shudda put em in promix i got left over. Im loving coco but it dries to fast for seedlings...ill try again though, many claimed a bit of dfied camomile added to ones regular herbal diet is rather pleasant..
 
Ok I am going to try micro clover if I can get my hands on it, if not white clover. Mirco Clover is just a selected white clover from what I have read, they select for less flowers and smaller plant. I think one of the benefits that I haven't see mentioned is that a cover crop will reduce the temperature of your medium through respiration, as well as covering and keeping your top layer moist. Not to mention the N fixing. I really don't know why this isn't a major thing yet. Guess I will find out soon enough

Its a very big thing in agriculture just hasn't hit the cannabis scene yet.
We can learn a lot from each other!

not b-s, is a fact beans, peas, and the other stuff all grow (N) balls on their roots

the deal being once these plants die

the roots with the (N) attached dissolve in the soil

I prefer the lazier method of dropping a handful of dried comfrey to the mix

a lot better than those guys that blow their salary on bottled sewage ..lol

Mint should be grown in its own container: Most mints are invasive and aggressive, spreading rapidly by runners; the advice on them as companion plants for MJ is grow them in separate containers and place the mint around MJ's container. I bought Lemon Balm mint (also commonly known as Melissa). Am also going to get some Spearmint and Peppermint to try, as well as other easy to grow companion plants. Mints are perennials, so you need not keep re-planting them. When they die down after warm season, they will spring back from their roots when winter passes. Some mints species are better adapted to colder climates. You can Google for more information on the many different subspecies of mint.

Website of Royal Queen Seeds lists several different companion plant species for MJ, w/ information about what particular benefits these companion plants offer to MJ.

On another forum, someone said he'd planted chamomile (he did not specify whether it was low growing 6" - 8" tall Roman chamomile or the taller 12" - 24" German chamomile) in the same container as his MJ and said he noticed a definite improvement in flavor as compared to same strain MJ grown w/o chamomile. Plus, the presence of chamomile in the same pot as MJ did not seem to have any detrimental effect on the MJ's growth.
