3 plants is going to be a felony with up to 2 years in prison. Your wife has good reason to be paranoid especially since as you say the plants can be seen from the street. Being trained in martial arts won't keep you out of jail if the cops spot your plants. And since your wife is also a resident of the property she can be charged as well so keep that in mind.

remember also on indoor grows they weigh your dirt, water, lights and everything. So one plant with 4oz of bud in a 5gln pot of dirt will be charged with like 30+ lbs. trust me I know for a fact

...at least for me anyway - my first grow. and the wife is a bit paranoid. thinks i am on some DEA database because i bought uncoated aspirin on Amazon. with all of 3 plants in a suburban back yard. (had to prove to her tomato people use it too...lolol)

thoughts? i still have several okras and melon vines you dont see. obviously everyone here can see whats gong on here - but the untrained eye from 50 feet away will be none the wiser, and anyone who can get that close is trespassing. and i am a 2A kind of guy with extensive martial arts experience if you get my drift. and my one asshole neighbor knows it. so he keeps to himself. all my other neighbors love me and cant see my backyard anyway. perfect! ;-)

main point is i have so many peppers all over and shade cloth to protect them from the brutal Texas heat that any other plant with peppers and shade cloth draws no attention because i have been doing this with veggies over 20 yrs.

thats my logic and i am sticking to it... ;-)

First time reply on here. Maybe kinda fuzzy sorry....
I'm in canada... Near ottawa, quebec side. Not the same climatr at all. And 2 years its been legalized over here..... Full of gray zones concerning federal and provincial plus municipal stuff..
Rollitup as been part of my schooling for 10 year's plus man! Inside 5 years out for 5ishhh years too....
So even tough it's legal here with gray zones I'm still paranoid as hell as u guys in the states.

... But mainly federal law, states that u can grow 4 plants..... quebec as to be different
as usual... So qc said no growing 4 plants for personal use..... Bureaucratic bullshit if u ask me....{just the situation over here}
Haven't been growing for at least 6-7 years missing time... Kids house and all....
Started withe widow in april may..... Just for the kicks to see if i still had the touch and i think i do! Lol gave 2 away and kept the others...just to be under 4. Going great too....been away for a week got them inside and they look like shit. If i figure how to post ill post them for opinions....

All to say i loveeee the peppers man..
.. But flowering is a bitch with the smell.... Over here i blend them with my rasberry bush.... A trained eye couldn't see it... Mothballs covered the smell for a bit....
Any suggestions? Outside for covering smell?

Gotta go! Sorry its fuzzy post.... Will try to post pics on. Suggestions feel free man!
If ur sticking to your thing cheers man! The peppers and all thumbs up... Just watch out when flowering smells a bitch... But there is always solutions!
Cheers!

ok you win. i'll just go rip them up right now. i mean with all the negative vibes telling me how stupid i am whats the use?
No, I think most are just trying to caution you that by September, the plant is going to look and smell like cannabis, even with your nice peppers. Whether or not it can be seen or smelled, that's your call.

We were just cut loose to grow for personal use july 1st. I live in the middle of town, but of course you can't advertise you have some growing, not only because they said so...lol... buy you have to deal with the occasional crop observers casing the goodies. But I have a fenced yard and a very large trained guard dog. He's a big baby but I tell him "sentry" every night or when I leave for the day and there is a small patch of ground that goes on the no fly zone.

Don't pull them! WHAT? Not what I meant, I don't know how the general public are around you, but here your property can and will grow legs and just walk away.

"the plants can be seen from the street. "

i never said that directly - but yeah, with a 2 second window at 35 mph. it doesnt happen. if you did your 18-wheeler could be in the ditch. cars will never see them.

i swear this is like if i was growing indoors and people telling me "you know you need lights" and "you know you should close your blinds so people dont see in"

man i thought i was the clueless one here. 65yrs old, hard science BS and MS degrees and 40 yrs as an environmental scientist, worked thru college as a bouncer, and surfed 20' waves across the globe well into my 50's. 5 yrs into a 6 yr black belt program too. not to say i am tough - just to say i have learned self-discipline and awareness.

pretty sure i can take care of myself. out.of.here.
I think this post was directed at @xtsho ... but before you leave you gotta admit he made a lot of good points, and not a single one would I classify as clueless

you mentioned in your original post that this is your first time growing and your wife is paranoid about it ... you should know those camouflaged odorless plants you have growing now will look (and smell) entirely different come september. Those pepper plants (which look great by the way) won't do very much to disguise two foot buds sticking up in every direction.

It's not necessarily the trucker driving by that'll land you in jail. It's the rank unmistakable odor of fresh weed that can travel incredible distances (especially in the brutal texas heat) that'll do you in ... I'm sure there's somebody at the big wholesale nursery across the street that can differentiate between the smell of Texas Blue Bonnets and White Widow.

I believe @xtsho made some great points and that your wife's paranoia is not unfounded. Just be careful.

Congrats on the black belt though.
