Concerns about tap water

I have been using hard tap water but leaving it to sit at room temperature for minimum 24 hours anyone have input as to the effects of tap water on container soil?

The term hard or soft water is used in relation to the amount of dissolved minerals like calcium and lime. Letting it sit allows chlorine to dissipate out. Idk what affects flouride will have IF it's in the water. I got well water and it's hard and has a Ph of 7.8 so I have to adjust its ph before use. It wont hurt to use as long as your letting the chlorine dissipate. do a baseline ph test to see what it's at so you'll know if it needs ph adjustment.

Helpful thank you. How do you measure for your grow? Do you measure ph of water or soil or both ? I have looked into soil testers and I was leaning away from buying one as the models in my budget seem too inaccurate

I measure and adjust my water before use and then a runoff test as it drains out with a digital ph meter. Vivosun digitsl ph meter is the one I got and so far it's done me good. The runoff test will let you know how the soil is doing as far as ph as it will buffer the runoff one way or the other.

Any soil blend from the grow shop should have good ph. As long as you add good ph water you shouldnt have an issue with the dirt getting out of range. And yes a useable soil ph meter costs about 150. Are you using city or well water?

City water is hard (mineral) in my area but I leave it sit for min 24 hour

Like air stones in the container hooked to a pump for 24 hours? This is within my budget lol
That filter I posted is the bees knees- turns the shittiest of city water into very drinkable water. But yes a britta does a similar job. Yes like an air stone running 24 hours. I only fully empty my reservoir every 2-4 weeks so i just let her run constant.

Thanks excellent insight

If you are using soil from the grow shop the ph should be fine. Just get a half way decent ph pen for your water.
