I don't have that worry....I live in a progressive state and everything I do is 100% legal. Gotta love that progressivism....

EDIT - Is that signature really going to help if you get caught? If there is some legal precedent about this, I would love to see it placed before me, but I doubt a signature like that will counterbalance the illegal plants growing in your closet/cabinet/spare room.

This IS democracy. ( No, we live in a representitive Republic, not a Democracy... )Remember back in November we had those things called elections. Republicans lost.

The Dems and Obama RAN on the position that they would pass health care reform. They promised it, they got elected partly for it and now they are delivering on that promise. ( The problem is, there would have been much better ways to help Americans as a whole without ramming a 2700 page monstrosity down everyone's throats. The bill that was passed is unnacceptable to most Americans. )

Democracy is waiting until the next election and voting them out. ( Once again, we DO NOT LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY! ) Not getting angry because someone took your ball and then pointing an AK47 at them.( At a certain point when the gov. stops serving the will of the people , instead serving the will of the lobbyists for CORPORATE AMERICA, is could be considered time to revolt. Our forefathers stated this very clearly when they created whis country that it is the duty of the people to keep the government in check, and the second ammendment was placed in the bill of rights to assure the people would always be able to stop a tyrannical government ) THAT IS TYRANNY. ( No, what you described is not tyranny, stop using words you don't understand. )

Now im not saying it's time to shoot democrats because this rediculous bill was passed ( fining citizens and not letting them file their taxes if they don't have health insurance payed for out of their own pocket??? are you serious???)

But its time to start with changing the rules of politics via shorter term limits and campaign reform including very low standardized budgets. These two things could make this country better for all.

If the Dems pulled this shit 6 years ago they would have been traitors and terrorists.

Calling for assassinations and threatening politicians IS terrorism.

I think it is natural to vote the way one registers, else what's the point?

There are differences in the parties as has been shown over and over again.

The ones who don't think so are liberals...because they are just trying to tread water in a whirlpool at this point (of their own making).

deflect deflect deflect...but the ppl know better.

Yes, indeed...welcome to the INDEPENDENT party. Glad to have you aboard.

Now let's clean the Congress up. Everyone up for reelection needs to be tossed out...every one, no matter what party they are affiliated with.

if you are going to play the game of politics at all, throwing out the incumbents isn't enough. a new crop will take up residence in their seats, building on the same strategies that threaten us now. it is the career politician that has destroyed the very idea of effective government and burdened us with little more than waste and corruption. people whose entire life is centered around accumulating power and creating political fiefdoms are the ones who have played on the gullibility of the masses and built a bureaucracy beyond the control of the people they claim to represent. there is little that can be done to curb the avarice of the players behind the scenes, but their reach can be limited by forcing them to regularly change the face of their puppets and repeatedly build their outward power structures anew.

by allowing a largely ignorant populace to elect our representatives, we have turned the process into a popularity contest where the name recognition of the incumbent gives him a distinct and almost overwhelming advantage. even the most corrupt political animal is re-elected time and again simply because he is a known quantity and the unknown frightens the voting public. by ending the reigns of these perpetual parasites sucking at the public teat and entrenching themselves in powerful committees, we can assure at least a bit of fresh blood from time to time and different perspectives to jar loose the fixed agendas of the washington elite. without a lifetime to build an unassailable position of power, the politician becomes more the common man instead of the aristocratic power broker. with the looming certainty of a return to private life, the necessity for political entanglements becomes less urgent and, under the watchful eye of an aware electorate, more difficult to disguise.

the party system itself has become an atrocity that limits the people's choice and assures the continuance of outmoded and dangerous agendas. consolidating political power within these plodding behemoths and allowing them to control the choice of candidates with their wealth and ties to established power bases, we doom ourselves to repeating the same mistakes over and over again simply because the agendas never change. once again, it is name recognition that decides the outcome of elections and the successes and failures of past party members that sways the opinion of the ignorant masses. those outside of the major parties have little chance against such uneven competition, in an arena where the loudest voice often determines the fate of the nation. the major parties have turned our government into their own private battlefield, ignoring the will of the people and engaging in a perpetual slug fest to determine bragging rights until the next popularity contest comes around.

Well said UTI!

I suppose it's only natural that those with money would become so powerful. Power and money have become almost interchangeable, but this is always the natural course. The purging of our elected officials needs to happen but isn't a permanent fix. Our entire system needs to be fixed. Ignorance is tough to fight especially when we have politicians divying up the funding for education. And we all know what state our educational system is in now. I don't see any real solution. I'm afraid it will take a serious collapse of govt. or even a revolution; kind of like how a forest fire spurs new, healthy growth, by first destroying the old. :joint:

Throwing everyone out on an EQUAL basis will send the message. Perform or else you are out too. look at it this way...it's never been done.
The only recourse after that is revolution.

I'm willing to try the first option initially.
