anyone have any experiance with theses 2?????

ok so i have a cooltube with 600 hps which is in use but i dont think i get as good reflection as i would with a bigger shade i understand the benefits of a cooltube if i have a heat issue but i dont so what do you all think???
should i change my the cooltube for my other hood tha it s a big mofo with 1 600 hps and 2 optional 150 what hps

yea i would man, sucks tho since you already have one. i got the heat buster max one its 2feet by 2feet and covers very nicely and supposedly make all the heat rise up above it

so pandabear your recommending against the cool tube??? I had plans to buy on for a growdrobe. Isn't it true that you can place them closer to the plant??? Please tell me why it is you recommend another reflector over a cool tube, and would you still do so if were talking about a small enclosed space???
Thanks

if you ave a small space a cooltube could do the trick but i feel that you lose light with the cooltube ie not so much reflective surface area

tests have shown that cool tubes are not that reflective, they lose alot of light.so shop around for one that stays cool and reflects a good percentage of light.

I had heard the same about cool tubes and reflected light. However, is that compensated by having the light closer to the plants?

Just some idiot
The point you are missing and what Panda is trying to say is the cool tube doesn't have a great reflective spread, sure you can get the light closer which is beneficial in certain instabces but if you want a cool tube to do a 4 x 4 area you should go with something else.

does anyone know if the glass also reduces some of the light?

but yeh gyg is right if you put the light too close your plants on the outskirts will suffer from less light

and this is my reason for changing my hood plus with this hood i can go from 600 w to 900 w at a flick of a switch

oh you know what just get a large reflector with glass and a cooling flange like this:

I have this in the 6" and it is a very good reflector. I am sure that you lose some useable light when passing through the glass, but in my situation, (enclosed area) the benefits from having the cooled reflector outweigh the loss of spectrum. The cooltube would lose the same amount of light and may even lose more because of the curved surface. Just my 2 cents, no scientific data to back it up.
