Cooling grow room

Summer time brings those rise in temps. I obviously know a bigger mini split ac unit would help, but i am little over my budget according to my wife hahaha.

My room is 10x10x10 i am currently running 3/4 1000watt hps lights, I have a 12,000 btu portable ac unit , two fans. My high has been 85 I just want to get it little cooler, cause temps will go up next month.

Will adding another port ac unit be my best option until I can buy the mini split?? I run the lights at night also.

Buy a good one the first time. Mitsubishi, Daikin etc. I bought a Mitsubishi 12k with complete install kit for $1400 shipped from hvacdirectonline. I purchased it through ebay, so I could take advantage of PayPal 0% interest for 24 months.

The first one i got was a whytner 12k btu would adding another bring dwn the temp or be a waste of cash??

Not sure I understand that sub panel. It appears to have a #10 feed (30 amps) and then simply feeds a mechanical timer with 30 amps. Why not just skip the panel and feed directly to the timer? Am I missing something?

I just had a guy from task rabbit do it 6 months ago it was cheap and convenient.

I still don't understand the logic behind pulling 30 amps to a sub panel and then to a timer. Just doesn't make any sense. I do hope that the breaker in your main panel feeding this sub panel is only rated at 30 amps because thats all the wire is good for.

Also, the receptacles aren't rated for 30 amps. It's just not setup correctly. If anything there should be a small sub panel after the timer to break up the 30 amps to receptacles rated at 15 or 20.

Yea i just needed a cheap job done when i got it done, the last 6 months it has worked is there a downfall to it later on i dnt know about??

Well if something shorts and pulls excessive current the receptacles are not rated for that. They are rated for 15 amps by the looks of things but fed by a 30 amp breaker. There is much about that situation that is not to code. A simple remediation to make it safer would be to change the breaker feeding the timer to a 15 amp breaker.

I am going to post small video of full setup not saying you guys are wrong but i am saying the last 6 months no issues no breaker issues.

Hey I couldnt post a video, but here is the sub panel in my garage thats connects to the room and sub panel in grow. Never said it would be up to code or anything. The guy who put it in done a few grow rooms and said i could have 8k lights if i wanted but i am only running 3(1000 watters right now. Not saying you guys wrong just wasnt seeking the ac advice.
