Cooling Res - Ice Cubs???

Hi all,

DWC with top-down feed, 8 net cups in one res (won't do that again), using 4. Having issues with pH drops and EC rises, possibly start of root rot.

My grow tent is in my garage, which can get hot sometimes. I've got a bluetooth hygrometer and temps range between 72 and 84, with RH between 57% and 78% - but I'm adding a dehumidifier tomorrow, so hopefully can keep that down.

Started to notice some slime on my roots, and started using hydroguard recently, but am looking for ways to keep my water temps down. On one forum I saw someone using ice cubes to cool the res. Is that realistic and effective???

I'm using RO water, so the cubes likely would be tap (which might be good - I've heard people say to add back a little tap water). But if I throw 5-6 ice cubes in there before lights out and let's say again in the morning, is that going to be worth the trouble?
