Curing before drying?

I have a buddy whose been growing for awhile and told me he cures before drying. His reasoning behind this is basicaly slow drying and allowing the chlorophyl to release. If im not mistaken he said he cuts them down and cures them in jars for about 3-5 days then puts them in a carboard box and lets them dry in there rotating them. Now I havent got to try out his meds as of yet to see how it smokes compared to anything else.....

anyone know anything about this?

I guess when I get my harvest I'll take a small amount and do it that way and compare it side by side! Just hoping maybe someone has some insight on this?

I would really like to hear some others thoughts on this. The only thing I see is does he ever have a problem with mold. Does he jar them and leave them sealed for 3-5 days without ever takeing the lids off. Really wonder about the whole process step by step because they way you typed it out seem that the buds would just more or less be sitting in a jar of water. Ill check back to see what others have to say.

I am curious too but skeptical. I am all for slow drying but your bud will loose 75%, give or take, of its weight in water when fully dried and cured. That and i think it takes chlorophyll a long time to break down. Not so much evaporate.

seems counter productive to do it that way.

i dry mine for a few days. usually about 3. Throw them in jars for a night, lay them back out for the day, then start my curing process.

Same here.. I hang them till slightly crispy on the leaf (I leave about 1/4" of leaf if it's coated in trichs) but the bud is still a little soft. I then final trim into the shake tray, jar, and start the burping/curing process till they smell delicious..

Sorry I didnt elaborate on the process. From what I remember he'll open it up leave it open for an hour a few times a day and moves them around and does it for 3-5 days then takes them out and does a full dry and then cures them until its gone!

Im skeptical of trying it. It obviously works for him, but what works isnt always best!

the resin glands would get all fucked up, and you would lose some bag appeal and have a sticky mess to clean out of the jars

the reason people hang their weed after cutting it down is because of the fragility of the resin glands

Can't say I accept that, it would seem to me that he stands the chance of fungus or rot, He's got it backwards. I personally would not try it. If he says it works for him, all the better, why take the chance?

it doesn't work that way dude. you dry first. ok? then you cure. thems the rules. don't fuck with something that ain't broke.
