Cutting fan leaves

So these two fan leaves are in the dirt I guess because of how short and bushy she is.

It's cool to cut them off like I would defoliating? Or should I leave them alone. I just feel bad for them having to sit in the dirt lol and feel like if I cut them off she could focus energy somewhere else. But I also know fan leaves are like solar panels for the plant so that's why I'm asking. Lol

I would leave them. That far down they are gonna die anyway. Let the plant get all the life out of it while it can.

You would have eventually ended up removing all that lower growth when you lollipop, that’s why I said to leave them on and let the plant utilize them while they are there. But you already did it so it’s all good.

I always always always take fans touching the soil. I lost an irreplaceable cut by being lazy and saying fuck it. Odds are you will be fine, that’s the problem with odds though they aren’t 100%. Err on the side of caution as a rule is my advice

I removed 3 fan leaves while she was shocked from being watered too fast. 2 hrs later perky looking fresh

just because other people's are doing it don't make it a good idea pull your head out your butt and think for yourself

defoil can be good and bad simple as that. dont go taking every fan leaf on the plant off
