Cutting Question

I have some 2 month old plants about 2 foot tall, vegging and plan to move them outdoor to flower. I have not topped them yet, but would still like to. I want to take a few cuttings from each to save the genetics and determine sex. My question is can I take the top of the plant off as a cutting or would that not be a good thing at this point? I plan to take lower branches as well, just wondering if I can take the tops, and spur new nodes to grow?

you can take the tops but lower growth will root quicker as there r more carbs and less nitrogen the bonus of taking the top growth is it leaves two nodes which means two buds however this does not mean more harvest. i would suggest gettin these babies in bigger pots asap.

Wow, learn somthing new every day! Never read about the carb levels in relation to location on plant. I am repotting as we speak, you read my mind, repotting was my next question, lol! I guess I will lay off the tops and wait for more growth underneath. Can I expect a slowing in the growth from transplant? Thanks for the helpful advice, later.

Speaking from my experiences,if done properly,no,your plants will not slow from transplant....topping the plant will slow vertical growth and encourage the side branching for a shorter bushier plant....check out the bottom link in my sig for more grow tips
