Cuttings in water in a solo cup

I removed a few cuttings from a GDP I have vegging... 26 days ago.
They sit in my kitchen window and I change their water every few days. I think there's roots growing. lol
I dont mind them hanging out on the sill, but really...
If I plant them in some soil at this point what might their chances be?

Way too much vegetative mass to sustain and grow roots simultaneously. Trim down to two leaves. And cut a clean 45 degree cut then split stem with razor blade with an 1/8 inch slice to create 4 equal segments. See my cloning method in my journal. Use a tumbler type glass taller than your cutting. It retains moisture around plant. Add water just below the leaf stems. Change every 4th day with tap water. East or South window should root fairly quick with natural spring sun and light temps.

Here’s how easy it is. Local drunk ranch hand trying to grow his first crop out calls me to please check his plants and tell him if they can be flowered. He’d bought some decent genetics and had them under the HID lights I’d sold him. They were healthy.

“Pete, get a glass of water and we’ll take cuttings you can root for your next crop.” Not only took the cuttings from one but took honey and Mykos and dipped the stems. Straight into cups of Sunshine 4 Advanced. Told him to not soak them and etc. Asked if he understood. Yep.

6 weeks later he asks me to come check them out and see how much longer. I go. They’re in the same damned room under 12/12 are probably 30-40 rooted cuttings that are starting to flower. “Pete, you bozo. These had to stay on 18/6!”

He now has a tent full of foot tall revegging clones that obviously will be monsters. But even Pete could root the things.

It would seem I'm not patient enough. A few days later and things are looking promising on the ol' window sill...

These little suckers are still in my window sill. I'm going to put them into soil and see if they take.
It's interesting how they're able to stay alive so long in only a cup of tap water and still be green.

They will grow in whatever you put them in. I've put plants from dirt into hydro by washing roots in a bucket. Basically the complete opposite thing you're doing.

I did the cuttings in water thing the first time I tried cloning, and it took forever just like yours. I've had way better results just putting them directly in 50/50 soil/perlite under a dome, with even less effort.

If yours had roots already when you put them in soil then you will most likely be fine. Good luck!

I use this method of cloning myself now, I just 45 degree cut the branch, clean up lower nodes on it, shorten leaves by cutting them and dunk them straight into a 3 inch square pot of coco, coco/perlite, w/e I have on hand.

I think root riots and plug trays are overrated. Just gotta be a little more attentive to them from the jump.

Same but I also stab them in an aloe leaf before going in the medium, not sure if it makes a difference tho...

they sat in my window sill for just short of 2 months. lol
we shall see how they do.
