Damping off question

Hey everyone. I am looking for the truth here. No sunshine. I have a few beans in riot cubes which I thought were rung out pretty well but had more water in the cube than I thought. I checked the cubes today and I thought they seemed pretty wet still. I split the cube with a razor to place the beans in them so I thought I would take a peek at a few to see what was going on in them. I found the tips of the taproots were beginning to dampen off. I decided to cut the tips off and place the taproots into clonex for a seal. I made sure the cubes were not too wet and I put the seedlings back in the cubes. Am I totally pissing in the wind here? I can't believe I did this but you live and you learn. I have plenty of back ups but I would like to see if these make it. I have been reading everywhere I can and the jury seems pretty mixed. I guess the cutting of the root tips will slow growth for awhile and if that happens I am fine with that. I just dont want to waste my time with them if they are doomed. Let me now what you think. Thanks.

I've killed so many seedlings in rockwool cubes before that were too wet and cold. They just turn to mush. One time I killed every single seed!

This part has always been the hardest for me. I find the most success using the paper towel method and then moving to the cubes when I see a taproot.

For clones, I wrap the cubes in plastic to prevent evaporation, which helps keep the roots warm and makes it easier to use less water since it dries slower.

I'll update things for those interested just in case this ever happens. I misted the cubes with a combo of Mycos(endo/ecto) and Superthrive. They look to be "greening up" and are still alive. They are not limp and dead yet. They may pull through. We'll see.

All the steps to fix the problem are working. I have tap roots that are 1.5 cm long and the cotyledons are greener than I have ever seen. I know growth will be slowed down by two weeks but the genetics are so worth it to endure the extra time they need to get going.

That's awesome, I'm so glad that turned out alright for you. I was wondering how it was going, but was down for a couple of days. I really think you got some good instincts and quite the green thumb bro. I should be back for now and around, hope to bump it to you. Peace out.

People say not to touch seeds but I have saved a few that would have otherwise died. I say don't do uneccessary shit... but if there is a problem don't be scared to do something.
