Day 24 Veg

So she is on day 24 Veg. She is my first indoor grow, and first time with hydro.
She is on 18/6 400 watt HPS. Fed three times a day with a drip system, in rock wool, and clay pellets. I use Floranova grow, 7-4-10.
She droops at night when the lights go out, and perks right back up when they come on again.
(Hope that's normal)

Also, these white spots on the stem concern me. I think it is from the newts shooting out when the pump first came on. I moved the dripper, so it is no longer an issue, but should I do something about them?IMAG0528.jpg

I have another question. Roots are coming oIMAG0534.jpgut the bottom of my pot. Should I do something about it? If so what?

I don't know much about hydro systems but most of the ones that i have seen have tremendously complex root systems. Your roots seem like they are healthy enough. But if you're concerned about the excess roots, it can't hurt to upgrade to a 3-5 gallon pot. Hope this helps.

What EC are you applying? With drip (especially at only 3 times per day), EC levels in the media will rise. Despite what people say, hydroton rocks are porous and do retain salt. I'd advise you to increase drip to at least 4-6 times during lights on, and have one at least 30 minutes after light turns on. Droop prior to lights out is normal, although in your case it seems a little excessive. If your humidity is low, it could be resulting in the plant transpiring too much water and shutting down photosynthesis in favor of "sweating." Most indoor grow rooms experience this to some degree. How high do you have your light? Don't keep a 400 watt any closer then 8 inches. Your leaves look fine, stems look a little soft. You should try upping the potassium a bit or adding supplemental silica to your grow. With the hydroton though you can pretty much keep almost continuous water, as long as its recirculated and oxygenated. So up the drip frequency to i'd say 6 times per day at least. Water farm buckets are just like yours except constantly dripping. The roots coming out the bottom- there's nothing you can do about that except make sure you're supplying adequate water and nutrients. It may become a problem if your lady gets root bound when transistioning to flower. I don't know a lot of people seem to think hydro is simple but I found there are a shit ton of factors you have to consider and balance. I've been doing it for a while now and I still am learning every day. But she looks good though.

Looking good. Dropping when lights are off is completely normal. I would be prepared to switch to 12/12 soon.
Looks like I grow in same size pots and have learned the hard way I cant veg very large plants hoping my flowering stage will go good.

Thanks! I plan to take clones from her. Being this is my first indoor grow, I wanted to go through the whole process before committing bought seeds. This seed was the only seed out of a delicious bud. I hope she tastes as good as her mama. I want to get a good feel for growing indoors, before I grow bought seeds.
