We all know (it is scientifically proven) that a leaf is a plants most efficient point of lights absorption.

Say we have two clones from the same plant. We decide on identical mediums, nutes, pot size, temps humidity, etc... everything controlled and equal. Now the only difference is one is defoliated and one keeps its all of its leaves... even if they both completely fill their canopy, the defoliated plant can't possibly absorb as much light as the other.

Now how much of a difference it'll make I can't say.

My point is just that defoliation cannot logically produce more than a non defoliated plant.

So my question is why bother?

well, a single plants in a scrog, can yield many times more than the same plant grown without any training under a 600w hps , so topping, defoliation,lst or other techniques can help by increasing canopy size and in-turn increasing the amount of bud can grow

even uncle Ben would agree that topping the right plant at the right time will always increase your final yield

i always use defoli along side with an lst scrog or topping if done correctly it can complement the results of any of these techniques

i hate when people use the "in nature does MJ like" its bs because look at it like this, nature doesnt provide the perfect environment cannabis has much more potential then mother nature can allow it to use . I.E animals eatting it Heat waves, early frosts(survival of the fittest). so on so on. what we do when we take it indoors is baby it and give it the most optimum conditions to grow to its highest potential. . lst/topping/ defoli might take a tole on an outdoor plant but on an indoor plant we can give it the 20/4 hours of light and the extra 2 -3 weeks in veg to allow it to perk back up and come back better then it ever was. outdoor plants are subjected to all sorts of things eating at it and also its limited on its day time hours so in a sense Defoli might be worth nothing on an outdoor plant because youd be stressing and already stressed plant that has to deal with outside conditions. survival of the fittest when its outside weak genes die strong live......inside doesnt so much matter if u have a gently inferior plant because you control its Environment...

my 2 cents.... i defoli, lst ,scrog,supercrop,top,and fim my indoor plants and get good results doing so

there's no point even trying to prove that defoliation works on this site, but I will take a look thanks for the link
 
Defoliation is like taking one step backward to take two steps forward. Just don't take two steps back... (don't overdo defoliation)... Defoliate if you must, but do it in a minimalist way if you must.

not saying you can't grow but I have never seen you grow a few plants in doors and realy show off your skills
you could never do a side by side grow with me with a few plants under a 600w hps
you would not stand a chance and you know it lol
you could try and talk your way out of it as you alway do.

I took a long break from this site because of all the jerks here and now I see why. Why are people here so nasty to each other. Guess what people, there's lots of ways to grow pot so get off your damn high horses and realize that none of us here are the big bad grow gurus we want to think we are. Some people take off leaves, others don't. Personally I don't but hey if you do and it works for you fine. Some people here just need to grow up and get along.

What I think is funny is how this thread is still up, its 50 pages of shit talkin and name callin but the thread is still up. Seems kinda fishy to me that this thread has made it 50 pages when similar threads dont make half that many with far less name calling. Just sayin
 
I don't want to upset any grower/person but if uncle Ben does not agree with a thread, he gets it closed down any way he can and has no thought or respect for any grower on that thread, just look at how many threads uncle ben has got shut down, defoliation is a technique and every time uncle Ben talks a mod round and tell him to shut the thread, another one will open, so imo the mods and growers on this site should not comment on threads if they can't
respect the feeling of other growers and let them grow the way they want too.

uncle Ben says trim the roots in flower, something I disagree with but I make no comment on this as it can only cause more bad feeling,

didn't i say the same exact thing pages ago? i guess people missed the part when he asked why this thread was still up and could a mod please delete this very thread.

what's funny is, if we were to muddy up his thread and promote to shut it down or possibly delete it, he wouldn't take it too well. would you nephew ben? but yet, here you are doing what you hate the most.
dude cried like a bitch when the mods shut down a dedication thread to him, i could only imagine what he'd do if we were to get his personal thread shut down or possibly deleted.
