Dig up a seed in the soil?

It's been 5 days since I put my seed in a styrofoam coffee cup. I poked a hole in the dirt that was about as deep as the tip of the pencil and maybe I might have planted the seed in it too deep. I didn't soak in a paper towel or glass of water beforehand. The temperature in the room had been around 73 degrees on average.

Should I dig it up and plant it closer to the surface? Some people say to put it a knuckle deep but I've been reading 1/4 inch is an optimal depth for the seed.

some sort of soaking helps might just be worth dropping it in wet tissue and somewhere dark n warm if no results in a few days id say its a bad one ive got my first 4 using this method and worked on all of em and my mates 14 hes just popped

congrats man what kind of light u using in there bro its such a lovely feeling when they pop up isnt it great sense of achievement
It's a 23 watt CFL. I covered the inside of the lampshade with emergency blanket and the inside of a cardboard box also. There's a clip fan running inside too. The lamp is connected to a timer on 18/6. My tent should be here Monday and I wanted a head start.

looks like u doing a good job mate keep it up as far as i know looks fine my stems were red at first they do that just make sure u keep that light pretty close so she doesn't stretch too much but not too close that ur burning the life out of her what lights u getting for the tent im currently running 600watt hps first grow man its so exciting just done my first 2 tops today really happy

Thanks man, I'm using a 3 bulb 2ft T5 fixture. 7500 lumens. Scrogging one plant in a 2x2x4 tent.

I'm definitely trying to upgrade when I flip this investment. But if this is growing bud solely for personal use I think I'm basically set.

*side note. I ordered 3 6500k bulbs and 2 3000k bulbs.
When I flower I'll replace two of the 6000k with the 3000k bulbs

It looks great just remember no nutrients for the first 3 weeks and try not to do too much of anything really just let her be. I am glad she popped because digging the seed out without having a stem to follow gets risky. When I popped my first seed almost 10 years ago I was instantly addicted to growing and as a matter of fact if I suddenly became deathly allergic I would still grow mj for others because I love it so much. Things get easier when you have plants in all stages of development, easier to leave the plants be I mean. :)

Water when the cup feels light, really light, this will clear up the red stems somewhat.
Actually the redness is 70% gone now. I only added like 10ml of Poland Spring today. Outside of that the last time I watered the soil was before the seed was put in the cup.

Poland Spring has a pH of 6.3 I looked it up.
