digital ballast vs old style ballast

I have been reading that the new 600 watt digital ballasts throw almost as much light as the old style 1000 watt systems, is this true?

I am thinking about getting rid of my 2 x 1000 watt systems and get 4x600 watt new digital ballasts if it is true.

I have a single 600w digi (futurebright) balast. They are ALOT quieter than magnetic ballast, and I do believe they put off more lumes (*but I could be mistaken about that). 1000w's are HOT, you can get 600w's alot closer to the canopy of your budding goodness!

I would say if you got the funds.... DO IT!

be careful w/ digital ballasts.. alot of them emit RF noise that can cause havoc with internet/cable modems and have been known to cause outages for many blocks around the house that the ballast is in. Most are not reccomended for use in dense residential areas for this reason. It could depend on the wiring in your home or the particular ballast or a combo of both.If you do go w/ a digital ballast, check the RF emmitance by using an am radio to see if it causes a buzzing sound. If it does, you could have stealth/security issues.

Lumatek has the Exact same 5 year Warranty as Phantom, exactly the same. Lumateks have the same failure rate as other Quality Digital Ballasts do, there is just more of them since they are the market leader and have been for quite some time.
