Digital Ballasts

So, like we're all prone to do when smoking, I was thinking; has anybody other than me considered using the dimming option on new digital ballasts to recreated the Sun's rising? I'm on my first grow, so I don't have any prior results to measure it by, but I'm going to try it and see what happens. I'm going to start the light session at 500 watts, foliar water, after 30 minutes, turn it up to 750 watts, then after 30 minutes more, I can turn it up to 1,000 watts, which I'll do when I flip to 12/12.

i dont think it will be much benefit ..also running less voltage like 250 watts to a 400 watt bulb causes spectral output changes , if it gives a certain spectrum at full power it is desighned to be run at full power, in my opinion the spectrum changes when run on less power...i beleive u can find utube vids that explore this and have found the same thing...hope that helps

The main thing I want to achieve is recreating the morning dew by spraying them without fear of burning them. So, if I dim down, I don't run the risk of burning them, then as the water evaporates, I'll turn it up until I'm at full strength.

not going to help your plants grow any faster.
bulb manufacturers claim that bulbs not being fired at the full wattage fucks up their spectral output. I never believed it, but the hortilux guys finally posted up a spectral analysis of bulbs being run and full wattage and 75% dimmed. The dimmed once didn't have the same spectrum.

But if you want to go press the button a couple times a day, go for it,

The best thing you can do is make sure you have the correct times your lights go on or off, you cant re-create the sun, but you can surely try, think about other things if your trying to find problems with your setup by looking at others.
