Distilled water?

this may seem like a stupid question but in my science class my teacher said that the water that is collected in those air purifiers that remove moisture from the air is distilled water. is this true and can i use it to germinate some seeds or will it do something to them?

What's up kronik. I'm new to this site, as a matter of fact, I just got in today but.....
To answer your question: I've actually done that a few times I even used to take the water from my dh and use it to top off my res. I just wish I had a small enough garden to really appreciate a couple of gallons. LOL!

Go to tap..put water into container......let sit 2 days (evaporate chlorine)....and feed...............
Purifier......a unit that removes crap from air.................should we......
A) feed plant crappy, nicotine filled water to plant or seeds..good start .
B) Get real ?

I mean no disrespect twisty but here's an experiment. Take some water from your dh and then get some of your 2 day old tap and see which one has a lower EC. LOL LOL LOL! The great one has spoken!

Well think about how distillation works.
evaporate water then condense it back to water.

A DH is doing the second part and mother nature is doing the first part.

Now, with that said, the tank usually has some nasties in it from the stagnate water. The coils are usually aluminum (copper is too pricey these days) which can add salts to the mix.

And the ref to that the DH is dumping all the nasties in the air into the water, then rain water has the same issue with the air pollution.

Just condition your tap water or get distilled water or RO water.

I don't know to much I guess. I really stupid, I think! I've only been growing probably longer than a couple of days. Lol This isn't a pissing contest. Just try my experiment and then see. I'm in an area where tap is nasty and not to mention how many thing they put in tap to clean and make it safe to drink. Its a lot more than chlorine. Who knows, you could be right but my tap was coming out at 600ppm and my dh was dropping it about 300 on the average. Maybe your some place where tap is perfect.

My TDS meter had written on the package that the TDS limit set by the EPA is 500 ppm for tap water. You might want to talk to someone unless you are using your own well I guess.

The rule of thumb I've always used for pets and plants is this: Would I gladly drink that water? If I have to think too hard about the answer then that is a answer in and of itself.

Yeah, I got my own well, it sucks but I added an RO unit and since then its been all right. The only thing is that it still only gets to about 60ppm. I can deal with it but when I grow towards the big city, I can get down to 10ppm. Which ever way, I still hit 2.5 lbs per light or better. Water quality is still very important so do whatever you gotta do to get it down there.

I'm in the same boat. 500 ppm well water. Most of the RO membranes have a 90% rejection rate, thus 10% gets through, which means 60 ppm for you and 50 ppm for me.

2.5 per light is great. Has to be 1000 HPS right?

Owe yeah, I love the 1000's. I buck em off half way about 4 days before I flip and because of the penetration of the big boys, I don't get any of that littl pop corn stuff. Just primo! I'm starting a 20 light grow show in about a week, maybe 2. Just stay tuned. All sog, harvesting at least 4 lights every 2 weeks. It'll be sick! Wait til you see how this exhaust system will works. I have 8 carbon filters, air cooled fixtures, all drip in peat moss, etc. I just gotta go get a new camera! That sucks!
