Ha ha ha, you caught me... I'm a pig... Secret revealed! Nah, I'm one of those guys who smoked straight through all schooling. Go to school high, study high, get high grades... Right? By the time I came down from it all I had an engineering degree.
Funny thing, my job while in college was in the produce at the local market, after I graduated I worked in a green house design company designing ebb & flow.
I always wanted an aeroponic system but never got to design one on the clock. Here is the result years later.
Dream realized.
I'll let you know about what I think of it compared to an Ebb & Flow or drip system.

I forgot to mention that my 200W water heater was electrocuting me.
I was working on the pump filter when...
Buzzzzz buz zbuz I couldn't buzzz figure out buzzz what the hell was shocking me.
So I put two plus two together and ended up with six a couple of times. Figuring out electrical problems when medicated heavily, while interesting, is not entirely a great idea. Turns out it was the 200W electric reservoir heater. I open the res and look in and I can actually watch the electrolysis happen. Little bubbles were floating up, I would imagine it was creating "brown's gas" in my reservoir. "Brown's gas" aka HHO and a few other names is extremely flammable, I don't think I was producing much but who knows what time would do when thrown into the equation?
Sunleaves 200W all metal heater, beware of this little jewel. Buzzzz, kinda tingly. I'm glad I use GFI plugs and was well insulated.

I'm not sure about the DI water being good for your plants, I know it works well in salt water aquariums. The thing is I remember hearing something about not drinking DI water on a regular basis, something about it making your stomach bleed.
If you buy that kit or any like it, I can help you out. That one is very similar to the one I have.

Actually, I do have questions.
Did you buy each of the components (filters, connectors, etc) and piece it together?
Where did you buy the stuff and the cost?
How did you do the float valve?
I'll probably keep mine portable and hook it up to a faucet when I need to make more but I like the float and bucket to prevent overflow.

Yes, the local hot tub/jaccuzi store should have some in stock.
Final cost was around $45 with the hardware from Ace, hot tub/jaccuzi store and Menards. I had to buy more tubing and clamps in the end but still was cheap.
I bought the valve at the hydro shop for $8.99
Good choice, I have a day where I use it to just make bottled water. About every 35-37 minutes it outputs another gallon so I just keep track of the alarm and switch out gallon jugs when the system is not hooked to the reservoir.
I suggest finding a pressure shut-off valve, I had my tubing blow off the side of the reservoir because the system kept producing water even after there was no place for water to go.

They filter everything out of the water. You have to manually add back everything with your nutes, including the minerals but you know exactly what your plants are getting.....

Looks to be exactly the same as mine with different fittings.
Ebay is a sweet place to get one for cheap, I just don't buy anything over the internet.
Yeah, get that and if you have any problems hooking it up give me a PM.
Be sure to source a supplier of replacement filters, you will need to replace them every 3 months or so.

Exactly, I use Cal-Mag as a base and I am still working with the Fox Farm Tiger Bloom, Diamond Nectar, Thrive Alive B1, and Vegan Compost Blend. I'm sure there is something else I am forgetting, I just know it takes a while to mix the nutrients up.
I believe this gets a good amount of acids and micro/macro nutrients as well as base salts.
I plan to post some update pictures soon, after my first trial harvest (to prove my system to myself) I will start a grow log.
