Oh sure... it may be overkill; however, these little things get overlooked easily and can lead to compounded problems. I also just noticed the fence post is made of vinyl. It'll act as an insulator for the most part, meaning the convective property of air is going to be the only method doing the bulk of the work.
I'm not saying the qualitative cartoon in my mind is necessarily perfect, but when I see some of the designs that come out of China, I have to wonder if anybody really thought about what they were doing when engineering their products. ;)

I did some custom mounting with my Kessil H150 purple with gooseneck:






I turned off the T5s and now it is just a Cree 100 watt home depot bulb and the Kessil.

UPDATE:

Here is the first bits of picture details as additional information to this build. These are prepped for my 3rd led bar. This will be four vero 18 cobs at 2700k.

Here is the fan and heat sink as they come packaged:

I first cut off the legs that normally attach the setup to the cpu board:

Then I cut the 4pin connector off the fan and cut back the unused fan wires. In this case the blue and green:

Then I prep the heat-sink for the cob. First I find where I want to place the cob on the heat-sink and mark the mounting holes:

then I CAREFULLY and SLOWLY drill out the holes enough for the screws. Normally you would need to apply a thermal paste but it was already applied to these at the factory and I chose to just go with it. It has worked great for the other two light bars I built.

Then.. with some small amount of pressure adhere the cob to the sink and evenly tighten down the two mounting screws:

Here they are... 4 x 2700k vero-18 cobs ready for the drivers and bar. :-)

OHHHHHH ShiAT! LOL! checked tracking and drivers arrive today! woot. Hopefully the fan power supply is not far behind.

I'm sure someone's working on it..lol. One day...everything will be plug and play. Wifi..remote control..interchangeable..

For now still way easy enough. These CPU cooler setups are cool. Will have to think of a design incorporating them

the light u are using in veg they cfl or leds ?

  • Not sure what you two need more of. It is all detailed with links already in this thread for the CPU coolers etc...
The flood lights are Sylvania par38 21w. You can find them all over online. However. The diy cobs I have been detailing here are a much better choice.

not sure if it was asked before but what is the wattage for the bars total?
