Diy strip heatsink showdown!

What is going to give better heat dispersion, a 1/8 inch thick aluminum U channel 2 1/4 inch wide with 7/8 leg 46 inch long or a 2 inch wide 1/4 inch thick 46 inch long aluminum flat bar? I will be running 10 Samsung F series gen 3 running each at 1.3 amps may push it up to 2.5 amps down the road.

Include the face width dimension of U-Channel and flat stock width(face).

A 2 1/4" wide 1/4"thick flat bar?

So clarify that in your first post, brother. People need all the dimensions to give you any kind of answer.
Put how long they'll be as well and which strip at what current you're gonna run them at.

Include lengths, strip being used and at what current.

2x.250" is a chunk of metal.
I use 1/8" thick strips on my double row F strips at rated current and they barely get warm.

Vertical walls dissipate more heat. So I would get a U channel over a flat bar.

There are formula to calculate the total dissipation for a heat sink based on surface measurements.
