DJ Shorts Blueberry

This is really spawning some new ideas for an article.
The fact is almost all Cannabis lines will toss naners but when I say the word Hermaphrodite this is what I am speaking of. Not a plants tendency to reproduce it self but a full on she male of both sexes early in bloom. All Cannabis strains including TGA gear can from late term male stamens but some lines are much much more stable and I am working hard to explain and teach this to the growing public but the marketing gets in the way.

We have lines like Vortex that are almost bullet proof and anyone can find a great keeper in a few seeds but we have other lines like JC2 and Jillybean that require some skill in selecting the good females and tossing the bad ones but this is something completely different and if we had a line that performed this poorly we would simply scrap it. It would be different if the plant was amazing in other areas like bud size or resin or speed of growth but you can see the line is crap period and this test will help me explain in my new book about selections. This is my forth run on this historical strain and while I still hold DJ in high re guard but I can now rest easy when someone takes a shot at me using DJ as ammo the truth is commercial cannabis lines from the big boys are pretty weak based on my experience which BTW is why I started breeding in the first place.

Too bad for hermies, I half expected it myself.
Love to see ya run some of Shanti's. Got some Black Widow and Ortega on the way myself.
Nice thing about Shanti is you get 18+ seeds, and I have yet to encounter a breeder quite like him.
I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for a future run on Shanti's amazing genetics.

Take it easy

Everyone should be held accountable for the product they put forth... Cant wait to see how this Shantibaba thing goes... What strain are you thinking of testing Super Silver Haze maybe?

It's a shame these people that developed this strain can't see this... can anyone say EMBARRASSING. Thanks Sub for doing the work for us on this one, it's a bummer but at least you gained some evidence to the breeding bullshit strains case. Can't believe that's what $175 gets ya with ol DJ

I have seen good blueberry cuts before so it does happen but these came in his packs so all I can say is we didn't get lucky :)

I wouldn't go putting DJ Short down that fast. His blueberry is known to hermie along with other but it still is quite the creation. There are many that find wonderful mothers.

I guess it's not ALL DJ's fault. I would just be hella-pissed to dump 175 onto a ten pack that was basically junk. I would need to see my odds of finding a great one versus the odds of having my whole crop hermie and seed. I didn't mean to offend DJ's supporters, I apologize if I did.

My next project will be a Shanti strain another person I hold in high regard.

I think Querkle is hands down the best Purple strain you can grow from seed.
If you have followed my work then you know the color itself does not impress me or we would have kept Black Russian around.
Querkle is not super potent a solid 8 but it has such smokability and flavor and a nice body buzz you can really enjoy it.

lookin forward to the Shanti grow. what strain ya think of runnin of his?

an i can second the Querkel bein great...i also grow Urkel and GDP an think Querkel can hold its ground with either of these legendary cuts no problem.

Yea its not DJs fault but what Sub is getting is that the gear is over rated and over priced. I am sure if this was your grow and that hermie plant was yours, you'd let it be known. I am glad Sub did this because I've ALWAYS wanted to try DJs gear, just not gonna fork out any $$ for a pack of seeds.'

I was lucky to acuire 10-12 tga strains over at Breedbay before Sub split plus was lucky enough to be gifted a honeymoon mix. I poped 2 jillybean seeds and got two females, two different pheons. One that is just over 4 weeks 12/12 and smells like strong pine with a hint of orange. Sorry for the ramble, will be doing my own thread once I take some pics. Thanks for the work and this thread sub. Lawz

how would you know if the gear is over rated if you have never successfully grown or smoked his product? lol

i agree overpriced, but overrated, nope

But I do as this is my forth time growing her out.
Based on the breeder description it falls way short.

weve all had a bad pack of beans.
if i based my assumptions on the first pack of beans i bought by a breeder, then i wouldnt have ur genetics in my garden.bongsmilie

Like I say huge Fan of DJ's learned much of what I know from his words.
Over the last 10 years I have grown out maybe 80 Blueberry seeds even doing some breeding with them in the 80's
I was just really disappointed with this offering and I have never cracked a bad pack of mine meaning I have always found a keeper female in a 5 pack.
I do not claim to be some super skilled breeder my deal is work hard and get the gear to the people, I gave away millions of seeds before I figured out the seed pimps could help me get the work to even more people.
I would still grow a pack of DJ's gear maybe one of his new ones and I can guarantee that my super soil did not help the herm issue its very hot and stresses plants but head to head my Querkle up against this 10 pack is no contest and yes I am proud of that the whole point of this thread was for a wanker at another site who is always throwing DJ in my face as a god in cannabis and my point is we all have something to contribute to the cause and I'd like to think the difference is I still live about 3 feet away from my garden and if you took all the money away I'd still be doing the same thing every day :)

very true, your querkle is in my group of some of the best strains ive ever grown and tried. some truly exquisite dank tasting smoke.

but im saying, in the cannabis market today, and as a consumer, an experienced consumer, it is very unlikely that i base my assumptions on a breeder from one bad pack, or good pack of the first beans i try from him.

now when i was inexperienced, and just having spent 170 bucks on beans that hermed, i would be extremely angry and dissapointed.

Im growing the same strain and had the exact same thing happen to me around the same time, I plucked because the banana " the whole 2 of them " only grew out of the top cola. After i plucked i havent seen another one. Its been about 2 weeks since.
