Absolutely not necessary. Just invest time and effort into the best ventilation possible (air from outside has plenty of CO2). CO2 is used by experienced growers who are trying to completely optimize the yield of their plants.

Talk to your plants. We expel Co2. When doing alittle watering, just tell them abuot your woman, a movie, something. Seems strange but it works for a small closet type grow.
