Do I need a different size tent?

If my light flowers 5x5 but my tent is 8x4 can I use 6ft out of the 8ft to cover the square footage. Basically my light covers 25ft squared but I don’t have 5x5 or 5x10 to get max coverage. Is it fine to use 6x4 out of 8x4 room to cover 24ft squared? Please help ASAP!

Most lights have a square footprint where the light is directed beneath them. Raising it higher than recommended will give you more spread at the cost of intensity but it should work somewhat. You'll likely find that using a 5'x4' section of the tent gives you better results.
Thanx so much, I appreciate it. I’ve been looking at all this stuff I bought that’s piled up in my living room and I have no experience whatsoever. Just wanted to make sure before I start unboxing everything. I’m over 5k in and still not a seed to plant, lol! Happy to know that I don’t have to go through the process of returning or exchanging this tent. Too many delays right about now. Thanx again!

If this is your first grow just get everything setup and pop some beans. Dont worry about filling your entire tent at first. Growing one or two plants to start is going to be enough to manage. Dont worry about maximizing yield yet. Get the environment and your own schedule dialed in. I personally wouldnt even worry about trying topping or scrog or anything yet. Just pop a couple beans, veg them to a decent size and flower them. You can figure out everything else as you get through a few cycles.

Yea, this is my first grow ever. I’m waiting on some seeds from Seedsman. It’s been a few weeks so I hope they make it here. I was thinking of doing rdwc for 4 plants in 8 gallon pots. Is this not a good idea? I appreciate the input!

Ive never done rdwc only soil. Just from experience taking it one step at a time is going to keep things simpler and increase your chance of a successful harvest. Then you can get bigger as you get better. Thats just my opinion.

Makes sense, I just don’t want to do only 2 plants in an 8x4. I rather at least try 4. I know your probably right tho, I’m just high enough to try shit I guess!

Personally I went coco instead of hydro for my first grow. It seemed a little more forgiving, and although I have read pure hydro systems will give better growth rates, I'm more than pleased with how the coco has performed. Fairly simple as well with a good PH pen and PPM meter.

You can do 4 just don't veg them for 3 mos or they are going to be monsters. I would pop the beans get thru seedling stage (1-2 weeks) and then like 2-3 weeks solid veg and flip. You could probably use 2 gal instad of 8.

I wish I could change my pots but I’ve already started the process of building my system.

Not to derail but I thought you needed a good 6-8 week veg on a photo when you were growing from seed?

I only ask because I'm running auto's while I get my photo seeds together to pop and am about to begin that journey.

Damn I can’t wait to get to this point!!! What strains u running?
Those are all autos. 2 LSD, a Blackberry Kush, 2 White Widow, a Royal Gorilla and a Super Lemon Haze. I planted 9, intended to keep 6. Two didn't make it past seedling. I have 7 in a 3x4'. I'm moving to a 3.5x6.5' and only plan to run 8 next time.

Yeah you are right 6 weeks is better than 5, but in general the longer you veg the more chance something can go wrong. To veg plants big enough to fil 8 gal pots for flower is going to be like 8+ weeks im guessing. I was just trying to get him into flower sooner to get that first harvest under his belt
