Do you count the first week of 12/12 as "transition" or week 1 of flower?

I know this question has been asked many times, but do you count the very first week of 12/12 as the first week of bloom? I used to but not anymore and I will explain why. Whenever I have counted the very first day of 12/12 as day 1 of bloom, I always ended up having to add another week at least to the end before they finish properly. What I do now is count the first full week of 12/12 as the week of "transition" and then start the actual bloom count @ week 2. So the second week after flipping is actually week 1 of bloom. It makes sense for many different reasons as far as acclimating them and gradually increasing bloom feed etc. I would like to hear some different opinions on this. Thank you.

Honestly don't keep track anymore but when I did I counted from the day of flip for simplicity reasons and added 14 days or so to the harvest prediction.

good point, weeks 1 and 2 are still technically transition because almost everything I have grown indoors takes an additional 2 weeks to finish properly. Breeders estimated times are a best case scenario.

Just harvest the plant when ready and stop counting days. 95% of strains go 10 weeks+

I agree with you, I just like to keep track to judge progress compared to other strains at any given "week"

I have had times when I needed to have a grow finished by a certain time for different reasons and it does help to know how far along you are, generally speaking. I can usually tell when they are finishing up without counting as well, but it helps to keep track

And how exactly do you speed up the flowering process to be finished at your deadline?

So if you are keeping track to judge progress, don't you have to go by first day of bloom is the first day of flip? How else could you compare them correctly? Seems like if you are counting from when they start to flower then add on 7 days, you aren't going to be comparing them correctly. If one strain takes 10 days to start flowering and another takes 6 days, you're already off with adding the additional 7 days?

Edited to add: not saying you're wrong doing it however you want, as long as you are consistent it should be comparable results

I usually get good results with a finger crossing

I know that I will have to cut and run, at least I get an idea of when to start flushing to get something decent out of it

I guess what I meant to say is relatively the same strains, but from different breeders, to see how they progress at different stages

Just the last 2 waterings with r/o

I usually run the longer sativa strains and some do finish quicker, just something to keep an eye on, imo, it helps to keep track of the differences at certain stages

I like a nice fast finishing haze/hybrid, Paradise Delahaze is a nice one @10 weeks

So is this excluding your first week of “transition“ any pics of your paradise delahaze at the 10 week mark when you chopped it?

breeder said 9, it finished @10. No I don't have any photos of that run, just making conversation. Flawed thinking on my part i guess? I figured the first week as transition and it finished as advertised. Either way it works out the same, I just just added a week
