My brother told me yesterday that you need to rinse and scrub hydroton prior to use... is that true? If so... what does that do for you? Seems like a gigantic pain if so, and would like to avoid it if its unnecessary?

I ave heard that you do need to rinse it before u use it yes.

If you don't you will get all kinds of particles and broken bits that will jam a pump and generally muck up your system

dont forget to soak in a low ph water for 24 to 48 hours other wise u will be fighting ph the whole time
