Do you really feed seedlings at week 1

Hello everyone. I have 2 seedlings going in soil. They are both 1 week old today. I seen feeding charts all of them show feeding nutes at week 1. Isnt that way to early to be feeding a seedling nutes? Let me know if its correct and you should start feeding at week 1.

How many sets of leaves does your seedling have? I usually start feeding on the second set of five finger leaves. Even though I only use like 25% strength (say, if the bottle said add 2 teaspoons for light feeding I add half a teaspoon) then after that I feed clean water, then feed again, then clean water...when the plant gets a bit bigger or it looks hungry I start giving it 50% strength, then just work my way up from there as the plant gets bigger.

Hello they both are just starting the 3rd set of true leaves.

I just seen on almost every feeding schedule, show a week 1 feeding. I always thought feeding in week 1 is not a good thing. I thought most week 1 feeding from a nute chart would burn the plant up.

Hiya VCG, I only give mine Water for the first week to 10 Days..then start with Nutes at lower than stated dose.. But that's only if using a recycled or seedling compost, a lot of composts feed for between 3-4 weeks so apart from a bit of Mag/Cal and Silicone I don't really feed em till week 3-4, but everybody's Setup is different..

yup the feedings charts are more of a guide line for the amounts you should feed and when. I don't follow them myself but sometimes i'll look at one for reference..

also what soil are you using? if you have good soil you may not have to feed for a while.

I am using just kelloggs organic plus soil. I have used it before and had some good results. Plus its about $6.00 a bag.

The charts your referring to are telling to use certain percentages based on when u start using them not by how old your plant is.
No one should use nutes on a seedling 7 days old.
