Does a mother plant need a tent?

So way new to this growing stuff......but, if clones were only good for a few generations......., why is there an entire market built around the selling and buying of clones. Some for thousands of dollars. So that can only mean one of two things.....

1. Genetic drift is “bro-science”

or

2. There are a lot more stupid people out there than we thought...... and we are all f@%ked
There is an entire market built around selling things just to cannabis growers. Mostly ridiculously overpriced products. Thousands of dollars for a clone? I would never pay that. In fact I've only paid for one clone in my entire life and that was with a bag of weed. There's not a single strain on the planet I would pay thousands of dollars for. I won't even pay $20. I'd rather pop some seeds which are cheap or free. I also have never paid more than $6 a seed and never will because as I already said, there is not a single strain on the planet that I would spend that much money on.

This is how I keep my mother plants (and one auto that throws me into a blind range every time I have to look at that god damn thing ;)). My basement temps stay relatively constant.

I actually keep a plant or two in veg in my living room mixed in with my other house plants. I have either a hlg 65 of hlg 100 hanging that i have various house plants & cuttings under + a mini mother or small plants in veg i stick under it. To be clear i have several house plants as well as veggies i start from seed so a large amount of plants and plant starts is very normal...

This justifies 2 things; me hanging a veg light in my living room for "all our plants" AND i get an easy place to veg cuttings seedlings & such.
