Can't tell you monthly bills. Buttttttt I have a crazy idea. Go on your power providers website and look at their kWh cost then multiply that by how much you'll be using so veg is 18hrs and flower is 12.

If you have your heart set on HPS, I'd go with three 600w lights. (Very inexpensive on ebay and craigslist.)
A couple of 1,000 watt DE rigs would also rock an 8X8 but cost more up front.

For an 8x8 I would use 4 , 400watt lights. One over each 4x4 space I think that would be an awesome set up myself, I'm just starting to learn about cobs but if your going to go led read read read watch videos read some more and make a diy light but for an 8x8 it a going to cost an arm and a leg.

@capitnkush you have gotta do a lot more research and reading before you should buy anything at all. Even if you buy good hardware, if you have no idea what it is or why it's good, you're gonna have a really bad time. Do your research before spending any money. You clearly have absolutely no idea how any of this works. And no one can tell you your electric bill, electricity doesn't cost the same the world round. It varies from 8 cents a kilowatt hour, to 35 cents a kilowatt hour in the US alone.

Spend some time to figure out what makes lights good, and what makes lights bad. Go watch a bunch of Growmau5's videos, he's a very good explainer. Green Gene is also a good youtube dude, and he explains everything real simple like, which I get a feeling would be right up your alley.

For an 8x8 tent you're gonna be spending about $2-3k on lights if you go LED. Two of the BC Blondes 900 watts should do it for an 8x8, but don't just go buy those expecting a plug and play experience. You're making living things grow here, and if you want to make them grow well, you have to know a hell of a lot more than you do now.

What about 4 of these? http://timbergrowlights.com/250-watt-citizen-clu048-square-framework/

Then you'll have a small walk way in the center of your grow room to water and take care of your plants!

Are you going to grow in soil? If so get some fabric pots.

Do you have reflective walls for your grow room? Even white film works fine.

For that space you're gonna need about $300 for soil. If you're gonna grow chem nutes just buy the GH starter kit.
