Does height above plants really matter with LED?

I have a total height of 6ft6in to play with do i have to stage for different time frames in cycle or can i set them all at one height in the room?
Depends on the light. You can hang the sdame height and dim up and down, or raise and lower the light, but some designs are better suited to being closer to plants, usually the lower powered bar lights.

Lux meters are only useful to compare the intensity of the same light or group of lights, as Lux will vary from one spectra to the next. For example, LED's with more green and blue will have a higher Lux than those with more red, as Lux is based on lumens, not PAR, and lumens aere weighted more heavily in the green and blue regions than the red regions

Run led light suspended over about 18” in veg @60-70% intensity, then lower is to 13” in flower and raise intensity between 80-90% Yes Leds can damage plant tissue severly. Leaves are clear indictors of light strength.

Which light and grow area are you talking about? You can't make blanket statements about hang heights until you know the light intensity, layout and canopy coverage. Just sayin'
