Does it matter if clone is big or small?

So main question is: Does it matter if clone is a juicy top with fat stalk, or a smaller below canopy? Do they both end up exactly like other, small clone just need more veg time?

I want to preserve genetics for about 5 months. Its going to be summer and pause from growing. Don't need the most vigorous clone, but want to have the best possible mom still. Wondering if small clone makes worse plant than big vigorous clone.
