Does it smell when drying?

I'm getting close to chopping down my first harvest. I was wondering when they are hanging up to dry does the smell increase? If so what can and/or should be done to calm the smell down? I was thinking of building a box, but I think I should be worried about temps and humidity when drying in a box?

Yes it will smell, if u make a box or somehow else isolate it make sure to let fresh air in regularily to get rid of the moist. I don´t think though that the smell will be much worse than when growing.

yes it will smell ........dryin is one of the stankiet times of a grow.. check out roseman's diy odor bucket, also featured in hightimes this month, although no credit to roseman was given.. he takes a bucket and drill some holes in it, fills the bucket with i think kitty litter and ONA and some water, places a fan on top of the bucket that draws in stinky mj air, forces it through the bucket and thru the ona/water combo and out the holes stink free.. he says it works great.. search for the thread on here... it should do the trick...

1. The amount of smell depends on the strain, but it shouldn't be any more stinky than a live plant.

2. I dry in a card board box, especially in this dry weather. 60% humidity is fine, as long as it's not too cold.

Another thing I do to keep the smell down is to keep my drying box near the intake on my grow. Glad plugins and aerosol spray help too, when trimming. GL

This thread brings back bad memories.. I need to vent a little.

I did my first grow at my parents house in the garage. Let it grow for 70+ days and harvested.. so far good. But then i failed and put it to dry in a locked closet in my room, by this time i had already moved out on my own so i left it drying there and went back to my place. Big mistake, a few days later my dad calls me about this "funny" smell in my room. Needless to say when i get back there my plant is gone. :-(

Had i just cut out the buds and put in a jar asap i would have pulled it off..

Why this pisses me so much is that i was growing for my first weed experience and it got ruined just at the finish line. :wall:

Thanks for all the input, Im definitely going to look up the kitty litter odor control box. I feel your pain backgammon. Green Cross, it's a white widow that's close to harvest, but I also have some wonder woman plants and New Purple Power flowering for several weeks in the same area. 1 minute no smell next minute my whole hose stinks! I'm gonna try 2 boxes one for the drying and curing the other for the flower. Thanks Again!
