Dollar Store Grow

how has the smell been recently?
Not bad. It's mostly just when I leave the curtain off and the door open. Turning the a/c on in that room helps but not 100%. The smell at least stays in the room. It's like 90% garden and 10% marijuana smell. If it gets worse I might order some ona gel.

They seem to be growing very slow but lots of pistils popping now. I gave them a little MG Bloom today. Wasn't going to anymore since I added plant food to the new dirt. But I figured I'd try it and see how they take it.

Discovered last night that the fan has a little light on it! So I covered that with electrical tape. Kinda pissed off I never noticed. But they're clearly flowering so must have been okay, right?

I'll have some pics up later. I dried the males I cut in the microwave and have been trying to vape them, lol. Works a little but they're still wet. I lost the first one to mold so I figured I'd rather try smoking them than risk that waiting for them to dry for cooking.

Any tips for drying/curing when it's super humid? (The reason for the microwave is that, they were probably never gonna dry on their own in this humidity.) Hopefully it will cool off and be less humid by harvest time but I don't know.

Oh and last night I made steak and stir-fry veggies for dinner, so with the seasoning I threw in stems from the males. (They had been in the coffee grinder I use but they don't grind very well.) It was pretty damn good!! No high but the flavor was nice. Rosemary and sea salt went with it pretty well.

All the outdoor males ive got so far man i just trimmed up in tiny tiny pieces and have them under a light until tonight when i try to make butter...they wont be 100% dry but ive heard making butter was ok to do with fresh shit...you think about making some butter?....ive also heard of people smoking the tops of the males when they cut and it gives a nice little head change, id rather attempt butter it think though

Also if you have any of the pollen sacks you can pollinate 1-2 small buds with a tiny brush on the females just to get a few seeds...be careful not to get to much and pollen them all

I've tried three times to make edibles and it hasn't worked. The last time I did the butter exactly right and still nothing. I think I'm not using enough and long story short some dietary issues might be complicating things. I'm just terrible at cooking with weed, lol.

I cut them before they had sacks but this is crappy Midwest weed anyway, lol. I might try that when we move though. When I have more space and a med card I was thinking about using these seeds (I have some left) to try making a new strain.

Last batch of pics didn't come out so great. :/ But does this one look normal? Hard to see but there are little bunches of pistils at each top, then pistils scattered about the plant here and there. I just don't see how these grow into the long buds I see on older plants. I am only 2 weeks into flowering though, lol.

Okay here's a comparison shot of the plants. I matched the pots up in photoshop so they're all about the same size. Obviously some are doing way better than others, ha ha. Looks like at least with these fimming early in veg worked best. I'm not impressed with LST. I probably didn't do a great job but still, the results just don't come close. (And it's more work.) The one on the right end has grown some nice branches (the "top" is actually low and on the left). But those aren't as strong and bushy as the branches of the fimmed plant. My husband thinks the plant on the left end is a different strain it's so bushy, lol. I'm sad I didn't fim that one, would have been one nice plant. The second plant was left mostly without doing anything. Only recently did I start leaning it over to get more light, and I fimmed the top. Probably a lost cause though.

Honestly I dont have the knowledge to tell you how your plants are doing at this point but one thing i have picked up from here about CFL Lights is your suppose to keep the lights about 2" from the plants to prevent the plants from stretching which it seems like its doing? not sure someone else will need to give you more advice but just my two cents...Ill be keeping an eye on your grow =]

and even better its 1.5 to 2.5 inches away! get a light at every bud or 2 that distance away instead of hovering over the top. try adding 1-2 tablespoons of black strap molassis per gallon of water + nutes of course. fattens the buds. start that when you change to budding cycle.

i think they look good man. =) very nice and bushy. =) should get a good amount of budsites once it starts flowering. not bad for the money u paid. my 1st grow was the same way.

Got some decent buds growing now. The fimmed plant is doing way better than the others, so I'm focusing the lights on it mostly. Can't rationalize spending more money at this point (since we're planning to move soon anyway). But for future reference I'm definitely going to plan lighting better. Would have been okay with one or two plants, but four just has too much area for this lighting setup. Also if I don't just switch to HPS after we move, I need to rig some kind of lighting I can move up and down.

Figuring I'd rather have one good plant and three crappy ones than four mediocre plants.

This one is really bushy, wish I'd fimmed it too instead of LST. Might take a clone from it in case we don't move as soon as planned.

And these two just suck, lol.

Buds on the fimmed plant. Starting to see tiny crystals maybe? There are four big buds and a few medium sized ones.

Heat has been bad but it's finally cooling off. Usually the temp is around 85 to 90 degrees. :P Looks like it might be dropping to around 80 though. Another thing to take care of better next time.
I've been out for a while and my usual supplier is dry. Wish these didn't probably need another month or more, lol.

Well they're finally getting near harvest I think. Any thoughts? I don't know how to tell when to cut them down. I read to do it when all the hairs are orange, but I'm afraid to leave them too long.

I lost the two weaker plants to a bad gnat infestation. The buds were so small I wasn't planning on getting anything from them anyway. These plants have huge buds though. They're all drooping under the weight, lol.

you need to spend 20 bucks and get a microscope to view your trichromes with they tell you when there ready
Agreed, Radio Shack has one for 12 bucks.

Other than that they look nice, get some sand for those gnats. Replace roughly 2 inches of top soil with Sand and it would help. The gnats burrow into the soil eating roots and laying eggs, the sand prevents them from doing so.
