They just agreed to it.

You need to remember that America is their biggest trading partner and they are our second biggest. Your attitudes need a serious update, they're badly behind the times.
Lol, "agreeing" and actually doing it are two different things, China knows we aren't going to try and sanction them, we have no leverage, what are we gonna do if we catch them cheating? Nothing, and they know it. China is playing the long game, they still intend to take Taiwan and to hell with with trading partners.Your attitude is seriously naive.

I'm naive?

What's China's angle in supporting a radical and dangerous nation on their doorstep, now with nuclear weapons?

Taiwan is a prize, a historical territory and a point of pride.

North Korea is an embarrassment and a liability.

Who's the naive one?

You, North Korea is only an embarrassment to the U.S. because we look weak, China is gonna play Mission Impossible and disavow any support or knowledge of N.K.s actions. What liability?, Kim is a free nutjob.

Wtf!?

Kim and his dad have been trying to gef the world to pay attention and "negotiate" with NK for decades with all kinds of threats, knowing that would legitimize the regime. Past presidents have ignored NKs sabre rattling for exactly that reason and beause they knew that NK is no threat and will never be a threat to the US. China and Russia will keep the kook in line.

So by getting involved with NK in any way (media sparing and such) the US looks weak and stupid, which is what Trump is. He is a fuckin clown. The rest of the world looks at all this back and forth between the US and NK in complete disbelief... wondering why the fuck Uncle Sam would waste its time with such a moron.

I guess morons find each other...beccause they have no where else to turn to for friends and enemies.

If Trump wasnt orange and brown and short could anybody tell that he wasn't Kim? They are exactly the same...priveleged little whiny moron shits..

We look weak because we can't push Kim around like we do other countries. China and Russia have limited power over the kook. The world isn't wasting its time wondering why we're concerned about N.K., they have nukes.

Hahahahahaha

Thats like saying you look weak for because you cant make a 3 year old stop its tantrum.

You could spank it. But then you look like a child abuser. Same thing.

So what choice do you have?

Leave the 3 year old to spaz out in its room till it falls asleep. Which is why everybody has ignored NK for decades. If it grows up big enough to launch a nuke then you have a great excuse to bomb the country to nothing.

And china/russia will beat the US to that. No worries.

In the meantime.... nothing to see here.

You rightwing nuts... always afraid of somebody or something. So what if the US "looks" weak. Why the fuck care? Everybody who matters on the planet knows that Uncle Sam has the largest and most advanced military force on the planet. Sam doesnt need to show off.

What the rest of the world is worried about is that Sam will show off anyway....cause Trump is an idiot that way...and thereby start a chain reaction of events that could easily start world war 3. And all for nothing...because Sam "needs" to look strong?

Look strong to who, exactly?

I've been wondering why the US would bother to get into a war of words with North Korea and I can't come up with any answer other than this is the President Trump. His style, his words, his idiotic way. It's not particularly effective here, hopefully his style will go nowhere fast in Asia too. I think we agree here. Maybe not but that's how I read your post.

China is adamant that North Korea remain in their sphere of influence. They don't want a Unified Korea in US sphere of influence on their border. Regardless how China acted in accordance with recent international sanctions, they don't support changes that would put the a US style democratic-capitalist nation at their border with Korea.

Attached is a rational analysis by Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin, of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee who counsels working with China to ensure the "security of the countries of the region, without the use of nuclear weapons". In other words, US will have to accept the existence of the nation we call North Korea. We have to stop threatening that nation if we want cooperation with China on this issue.

So wrong, where to start? I'm not a nut, or rightwing. I would rather that the U.S. looks weak, then maybe we could'nt bully everyone else. The world hasn't ignored N.K. so much as N.K., has ignored the world. Why do you think they pride themselves on being called "The Hermit Kingdom".

You think NK gave themselves the nickname Hermit Kingdom?

Hahahahahahahh

NK ignored the rest of the world because they didnt want interference in there communist ways and the rest of the world ignored them simply because their backward ways have nothing to offer the rest of the world. Then came Kims father and that all changed...a baby crying for attention. Thats all. It really is that simple.

Maybe the US is still sour about losing to Korea in that war? Maybe thats why NK is on the radar at all...

But anybody who knows history knows the only reason US lost that war was because the Chinese sent 1/2 million men over the border to help NK...and to send a message to the US to get the fucknout of their back yard...

(snicker) Which "Kims father" are you talking about? There are only about 10 million people in South Korea alone with the surname of Kim.

Maybe the U.S. is concerned that their ally's capital city could be obliterated in hours by N.K. artillery and there's nothing the U.S. could do to prevent it. I don't think there were any winners in the Korean war. Every city and town of any population was reduced to rubble and most of their infrastructure. Maybe thats why they are miffed at us?

I do agree with all of the above. And i believe the Chinese dont give Trump much significance one way or the other. They know the he doesnt really run the country...not anymore than any other president. They know its all about wall street..

This (from wikipedia, I know, I know) is chilling. Can you imagine how SK felt at this point in their history?:

The withdrawal of most U.S. forces from South Korea in June 1949 left the southern government defended only by a weak and inexperienced South Korean army. The southern régime also had to deal with a citizenry of uncertain loyalty. The North Korean army, by contrast, had benefited from the Soviet Union's WWII-era equipment, and had a core of hardened veterans who had fought either as anti-Japanese guerrillas or alongside the Chinese Communists.

"
citizenry of uncertain loyalty"? The call is coming from inside the house! Get out! The call is coming from inside the house!

Sounds like we just said, "well, will you look at the time. Guess we better be moseying off now. Y'all take care, you hear?".

And if SK was obliterated what material difference would it make to the US? They have turned their backs on many allies in the past when needed most. Thats why the US is disliked so much. Those allies they have defended have been ones worth billions to them. SK is no longer that valuable....since trade with China began in earnest in the 90s.

Uhhh no

South Korea is important to the United States, both politically and economically. It would be a historic disaster if what you suggest happened to S. Korea. And I'm sure the US would take action to prevent the occupation of the entire peninsula by North Korea. Much as China would take action to prevent North Korea from being occupied by South Korea and the US.

But this is all just armchair generalship. North Korea wants nuclear weapons because that's the only way to absolutely end the threat of invasion from the South or the US. The problem is the US threatens North Korea. The Hermit Kingdom isn't a threat to the United States.
