Does anyone know how or where to donate excess product in the Denver area? I'm sure there are people in need but don't know how to reach them.

i don't know of any current 'ok' method with the MMED, per their rules you cannot 'give away' any product. but I did hear through a couple people that there is a network .... somewhere .....

personally, I think there should be a repository and method for excess meds to be distrubuted to the patients that need it and cannot afford it.

Thanks eyecandi. That's what I thought. I had read about MMAPA (mmapa.us) trying to change the laws so dispensaries can offer special discounts for indigent patients but haven't found any info on patient-to-patient donations or any sort of clearinghouse. I think I'll drop MMAPA a note to see what they know.

The more I learn about the effects of HB 1284, the more that law pisses me off./end rant

I am always here for your excess!!! Just let me know and i will come pick it up!
I didn't think there would be a shortage of volunteers.

I'm actually hoping to find an outlet where I can donate specifically to women fighting breast cancer. My mother died (12 years ago) from cancer that started in the breast before taking over much of the rest of her body. I figure if I end up with excess bud around I'd like to see it go to help someone with a disease that I have a personal vendetta against.

:peace:

If you have a dispensary you can trust I'd just run it up there and ask them to give it away as needed. I have a friend who
ran a dispensary for a while and he'd tell me stories about people literally crying to him that they can barely afford meds after
all their hospital/medical bills, I was able to confidently give him a few oz last winter for him to give away to patients truly in
need, I even got a letter of thanks that he passed on from one of them talking about how grateful they were.

It's definitely something that there should be an outlet for in the community, but it seems like it would be something very hard to
control and prove, but at least if you're doing it with the right intentions it should hopefully help someone out.

really? for some reason I find this one hard to swallow.. it seems that would put the dispensary owner at risk of breaking a law or two and losing a sale , I doubt that anyone would do that openly.

Take it for what you want, but this was last year-ish before cameras were up and systems were locked down, the owner was also a personal
friend who actually gives two fucks about people and wasn't out to cash in on the green rush. Believe it or not there are caring people in the
community ;)

Yeah its a totally different scene now, I was even turned away from a dispensary when I renewed, new card came a little later than I thought it would, dude told me straight up he had half a million tied up in his shop, he couldn't/wouldn't sell to me, even though I had doctors papers and a certified mail receipt and my old card.

It is illegal to sell to a renewal patient that has expired and does not yet posses their new red card. Why would a dispensary risk losing their business just to sell to you when you are expired.

1st time patients can use proof of mailing, app, etc to purchase but not on renewals. It's not personal, it's just illegal.

I've got a friend who runs a dispensary but the way those guys are scrutinized I wouldn't ask him to risk his business. I figure I'll find some way to do a direct patient gift. I sent an email to the people who put on the Buds for Boobies event in Boulder this week but haven't heard back from them yet.

According to Colorado law it is a petty offense to give away up to 2 ounces, and that is for any marijuana (not just medical).
