Down under LED grow

Hey all :)

I'm still new to the forum so pull me up if i make any mistakes but here I go :)

I'm just starting a new grow (its not my first but it's been awhile) I have started with tangerine dream barneys farm lsd blackberry (I can't remember the company) and vanilla kush. I planted the cracked seeds into Rock wool cubes on the first of April and I have been giving them from a 4×55w T5 light shade. My plans are to grow them on an extended veg and grow them big and use them for mother plants just before I flick into flowering. As for a medium im using straight coco in small pots but once they are ready in a few weeks they will be going into 50L pots and they will be grown under LED light. I belive its called a spider? I'll have to check when I go and pick them up :) other than that they will be going in a gorilla grow tent In their own room :) ill keep the updates coming as they happen :) thanks for reading :)

They have all been growing well except the LSD it had trouble breaking out of the rockwool but it is now coming good just a little behind.20160407_143441.jpg 20160401_040548.jpg

The photo in the coco was taken today (7/4) and the photo in the cubes was taken on the 1st of April

Good stuff mate, I'll tag along for the ride :-D
How many watts of LED is your light? I'm using a platinum P300 and it's working well so far!

Hey mate, I'm going to be using at least one 1600 I think it is ill have to double check that though and i might throw in a Mh globe aswel just for that extra spectrum and coverage, but the light is called a spider cob :)

Do you have a grow diary up? I'll have to have a look as I've never grown with led

Oh sweet man, 1600w is massive, that and a MH should give you some solid buds! Sounds great mate.
Nah I haven't got a journal up yet, will start one soon now that they have gone into flower mode. Will keep you posted.
My only suggestion is to keep your LED at the maximum height to let your plants adjust to the intensity and then move it down a bit until you get to the sweet spot. You'll know if it's too close as the tops will start to bleach!

Hey mate, sorry about the late reply, ill have to keep note of that I've heard you can keep them closer but with the ammount of light they produce I wouldn't want to because as you said they will just bleach them.

Quick update and question,

Not much has been going on just letting them for their thing :) they are all going well and doing what we want but this brings me to my question, when do I start nuits? I was going to start tomorrow but I don't know it's its to early even for a half strength water? What's your idea guys? Thsts photos where taken a day ago 1460480185488-1945064729.jpg 1460480185488-1945064729.jpg 1460480289344-1075682594.jpg

All good mate, the best way to tell if your light is close enough is how stretchy your seedling gets and going by yours, it looks to be about right. Let the plant grow up to the light and it will tell you when it's getting to close!
Your plants are looking good mate. I usually start nutes straight away if I'm using soiless media like coco. Just start off at around 300 ppm and work your way up as they get bigger!

Ok cool, well the feed chart says 3mL/L is full strength so I'd use 0.75mL/L of the base nutes and 1mL/L of the mamajuice to start with and if they look hungry after a week, boost it up a bit. The idea is to slowly get up to their feed chart levels which I'd guess would be around 2-3 weeks of veg :-D most nute brands work it out using clones which are generally a few weeks old.

Also, does it say which bottle in the line has silica in it? If there is one, add it with the base nutes at half strength to start with.

Good work mate. If they look like they are getting yellow tips, just give them a good flush with pH'd water and water down the nute mix a bit ;)

Thank You guys :)

Just a small update, I fed them 3 days ago and they are loving it and taking off :) there is a little bit of yellow tips on a few of them but that was starting before the feed so it has all been going well and they will be up for another feed in a day or two. So here's a few photos :)
